Summary: Monroe enjoys a nice peaceful morning but for how long will the peacefulness last?

~*~
His arm reached out searching for the clock on his nightstand, the alarm buzzing in his ear even after he found the button. Monroe turned over in his bed pulling the nice warm blankets closer around him, groaning as the sun's rays came through the window shining in his eyes. It was early October, the fall weather was starting to show in the morning air and at night; although it didn't really matter to a blutbad, since they ran warmer than human anyway.

He had been having a nice dream and wanted to go back to sleep but knew that he couldn't spend all day in bed. Throwing his blankets to the side swinging his legs off the bed to sit on the edge, he sat there rubbing the palms of his hands over his face and through the mess that was his hair every morning before his shower. He glanced at the clock, red numbers flashing at him as if telling him that he couldn't go back to sleep now. Monroe sighed before standing and stretching his arms over his head, hand locking together; he headed to the restroom to start his morning routine.

After his morning routine containing of shower, exercises, and getting dress; Monroe now stood in his kitchen. His back leaning up against the counter, his fingers wrapped around a nice warm mug of freshly brewed coffee; he could still see the steam rising from the dark liquid. He lifted the cup to his nose to take a whiff of the rich aroma before taking a sip, sighing as the warmth ran down his throat. He had decided to have a simple English Muffin this morning and some fruit on the side, the honeydew and strawberries were already cut and ready to go, he was just waiting for the muffin to finish toasting.

He stood there, drinking his coffee, watching the sun slowly rise through the window; he closed his eyes taking in a nice deep breath and letting it go. He loved morning like this and not just morning, but anytime that he got to himself. Since the day he met Nick Burckhardt, the Grimm; his life hasn't been what it use to be; running around helping with cases that sometimes ended with one, or both of them getting hurt, the bad guy either getting away or dieing and the people that are close to them keep getting into trouble. Before he met Nick though, it was heaven, sure he had a hard time staying on the wagon but it only became harder with the Grimm around.

It was times like this when he wished he could go back in time and stop Nick from ever arresting him, from coming into his life. The smell of the coffee in his hand and the sound of the toaster ticking away; it was just…perfect.

He moved to top off his coffee when the toaster went off letting him know that the muffin was ready, he grabbed the muffin placed a little bit of butter on it and placed it on the plate next to the fruit, picking up the plate, folk and the mug he moved to the table and sat down. He unfolded the newspaper, setting it next to him so he could read it as he ate. Using the folk he picked up some of the honeydew and was holding it mere inches from his mouth when a knocking sounded at his front door. Monroe closed his eyes pretending that he didn't hear it, when nothing else came he move to eat the fruit but just as he was about to close his mouth on the folk; the knocking was back.

He huffed in frustration, dropping the folk onto the plate as he stood, he mumbled as he moved through the house to the door. He didn't need to ask who it was; he knew before he even got there, grabbing the door handle he pulled it open to find no other than the person that he knew was going to be there.

"Hello Nick."

Nick only smiled at him before his face took on a grave look, "Monroe, I need your help." He didn't even wait for Monroe to invite him in, the Grimm just entered all but pushing pasted Monroe and headed towards the kitchen.

Monroe turned to watch him move into the house, he sighed, "So much for a nice quiet morning."

"What was that?" Nick yelled from the kitchen.

"I said please, come on in. Help yourself to some coffee," Monroe lied. He turned giving a quick look around outside before shutting the door, silently wishing to himself that one day he will be able to get back those perfect days that he uses to have before he met the Grimm, before he met Nick Burckhardt.
