hello pantsies... how are you!(i truely miss you ps)
is your teacher delusional, or is he serious? i dont understand how jpeg or raw will be unusable, seeing as, a lot of other camera makers make their consumer digital cameras on solely jpeg, and tiff. Raw is just annoying in itself, only because you have to have the right software to even get it onto your computer. thats crazy! The most popular slr is the d70 right now, (the affordable dslr anyway).. i just wanted an slr like camera (like this nikon8700)!
um if your teacher is right, then thats fucking crazy! its going to devalue every camera they have ever made before that! are they creating a new digital imaging format? it dosent make any sense to me.. but i will take your word into consideration. i thought that maybe i would have to money for this thing but i have to get new brakes for my car, so yeah.
i dont know.

im also very intereseted in getting a non digital slr with manual focus, and i dont know where to start, seeing as i only know shit about dslrs.
help! what would you suggest? where should i get one?

okay so i might have had a bit of that info wrong, but we were talking about it again in class today, and what i know for sure is that alot of digital camera manufactuers are at the point where they are all going to be coing out with new camera lines (increased megapixels, some up to 22! and also an adjustable format, 35mm, 120, 4x5 and up to 8x10) so in the next year alot of cameras that are great now with be sorta out of date, one huge thing is, i dont know if you use a mac or pc but mac is changing all their ibm chips over to intel chips which will mean a completley knew operating system for mac, by 2007 so old software and most digital files wont be compatible with it. i'll let you know anything i find out, this stuff is changing all the time. also i know that the nikon d70 and the cannon rebel are the best all around "affordable" digital slrs around right now......
take care-pants
