The last time job sourcing affected me was when i was spending a whole shitload of time in my dorm in Hong Kong, wondering when and how the hell am i supposed to secure an internship based solely on cold calls. And as much as i would like to boast, it wasn't a big deal that more than a handful of companies replied, because internships can never be compared to a permanent job afterall. Everybody wants you when you only cost $500 a month. Gotta just take the shit i guess.
So anyways, end of April is near. And i shall announce that earlier this week, the search for my first job has officially begun with -- DHL. We shall see how that goes. But in the meantime, i have a ready list and a good email with regards to pay expectations. Also, John's father to turn to as a last resort; let's just see alright.
Just the other day, i am once again blessed with the knowledge that i have wonderful parents who have (despite the ups and downs) supported me quietly in my decision to be with John. It never comes easy, but i think we've made it. Air tickets to San Francisco will hopefully be secured soon; and they don't seem to come cheap unlike the previous year but my heart's settled and i'm happy.
A few people i know often cite John and I as an example (or "proof") that long-distance relationships can and do work. I forgot the number of times i've been asked the questions, "How do you manage it?" and "OMG i miss my boyfriend so much, i cannot believe you can be apart from yours for so long! How do you get used to it?"
I cannot reiterate the fact enough that until now, I have never been used to being apart; for the very simple reason, i refuse to get used to the distance. I must be mad to smile sweetly while nodding my pretty head and saying, "The distance is a fact, and we can't cross out oceans, so - Yes we are pretty much used to it."
You've just got to work. Constantly work. Love isn't about feeling lightness. Love is goddamned heavy as hell and when you choose to carry it, you need to carry it wisely; your feelings, his feelings, their feelings, and the future. I'm trying to do the right thing everytime and hey, nobody says it's easy no.
It takes time. But when you want something hard enough, you can make things happen. Yes you can.
