First things first, I'll be doing my media black-out because of Harry Potter this weekend, so a big happy 21st to kozmicgreys and prologues! hope it's fantastic you guys!
As for Harry Potter, I know a lot of you don't get it, maybe you don't like surprises, whatever, but this media blackout is NECESSARY for those of us that do. Everywhere I turn someone is trying to ruin this book for me. Now I just jumped on the HP wagon last year, but imagine those who have been riding this train for the full 10 years! They put in all this time and energy loving the characters and building up the excitement just for some douchebag to ruin it so he can get a good laugh? And yeah, I'll still read the book if I knew the ending, but it's a whole new level of satisfying when I get to see it for myself, and when I don't have anyone else's input or opinions on the ending. That's why I hate hearing if a movie is good or bad before I see it. Even if I don't want it to, I can hear them in my head saying, "the scene where he got his head chopped off sucks" and I'm waiting for it rather than actually watching it. So that's my take on that. And if you're not a superfan then you won't understand it, but this is kind of a big deal.
Lila and I haven't seen each other for the past couple days, but we made plans to see each other again tonight. I thought about her all day, and this afternoon she came in my office with a huge bouquet of flowers! They're so fragrant too and a bunch of them are stargazer lilies! she knows they're my favorite flower. They have lifted my mood.
My parents were supposed to go to Minnesota today to see my cousin Toiya graduate from her master's program, but my damn mom decides that today's the fucking day that she wants to use her new Lauren Hutton make-up. Ok, fine, but this make-up is complicated so you need to use a DVD to help you apply it! Meanwhile they're supposed to be at the airport in an hour! what the fuck is wrong with that woman, I swear! This is why I hate traveling with them! she made me miss Erica's wedding ceremony because she didn't bring a damn dress to Richmond, then drove all the way to Williamsburg at some discount store just to get one! At 10am when the wedding started at noon! I was so mad! So my dad called me up mad as hell at my mom because she tried to blame him that they missed the flight! The guy at the counter said they were 4 minutes too late so he couldn't put their bags on the cart to be loaded on the plane. She said he made them late because he stopped at the bank. Ok, my dad does do shit like that. while he's waiting for my slow ass mom and could be taking a shit or going to the bank, he just sits there and plays on his laptop. Then when my mom finally is ready to go, he decides it's time to drop a deuce and holds us up. But that aside, that 4 minutes would've been nothing to worry about had my mom just cut the shit and came the fuck on!
Every time we go on vacation my mom holds us up. We say we're pulling out at 8am and tell me why this chick doesn't even get out of bed until 8am. Then she puts on make up and curls her hair! I don't even get dressed to ride the plane! If I do want to arrive to my destination all pretty, i do it during the layover because I know I don't wake up early! so why did she have to be all dressed up for the damn airport! you already have a man! I hadn't heard my dad that mad at my mom since they were separated. Anyway, I told my dad this shit will NOT happen when we go to Florida in 2 weeks. I don't care if we're dragging that broad out kicking and screaming with half an afro and half braids, she's not making us miss the plane! how are you going to miss a plane?! They give you mad time to make it! you made those reservations weeks ago! ugh, so mad at her.
Anyway, she called to tell me they got a standby flight so they'll probably be arriving soon. I was mad at first because I was totally going to raid their house for goodies to sell at the tag sale, but that almost threw me off. but now they're leaving again so it's on! I even found an air conditioner in the house the other day!
