A/N: I was given this pairing as a challenge. I missed the deadline but thought I’d finish it anyway. I’m quite pleased with how it’s turned out, especially given the rarity of the pairing.

Xiomara hits the grass with a hard thud, and while she is clutching at her lifeless arm and trying to ignore the bruise on her temple, she wonders if she’s blushing. This is not the way she wanted to spend her first day as a teacher at Hogwarts.

As the greens and blues of grass and sky slowly separate and the world rights itself, Xiomara spots a familiar figure hurrying towards her.

A sudden sense of déjà vu. A seventeen year old Xiomara lying on the grass, graceful only in the air, clumsy and awkward on the ground. Bruised by a bludger in her embarrassingly but practically small chest.

Madam Pomfrey stands over Xiomara, hands on her hips, and smiles, as though Xiomara is a student again, and not a professor at all, although some teacher she’s turning out to be.

Robes undone by careful deft hands, and Xiomara desperately tries to stop shaking and slow her jumping heart. Soothing, comforting hands over skin still stinging from the impact of the bludger.

Eyes meet. A silent question from Poppy, the neat and tidy prefect who excels at healing charms and potions, and who Xiomara never imagined could look at her in such a way. Yet there is still a precision in this recklessness, so much so that Xiomara finds herself slowly nodding.

And now, as Xiomara looks up into Poppy’s eyes, she wonders how much longer this déjà vu will go on for, because she rather hopes it stays a while.
