Now that's a promise...
Saturday was mine and Doug's 1 year anniversary. I can't believe that it has been a year already. It's craziness!! LOL It has been a very good year, though, and I'm extremely happy with him. He's such a good guy. We went out for a nice dinner on Saturday, and he gets this goofy smile on his face. I was afraid he was going to say something different from what he said, but I'm quite happy with what he did say!
With a big goofy grin on his face, Doug says to me, "I have a present for you." And pulls out a small, wrapped present, about the size of a ring box. I was getting worried, because I thought it was going to be something else. Inside the box was a ring -
And along with the ring he gave me a piece of paper with a few little words written on it. It is a Promise Ring. He knows that I'm not ready for more of a commitment, and he's not, either, but when the time is right, he promises to replace the above ring with a ring more befitting an engagement! How sweet!!
So I'm quite excited! It's a pretty ring, at the jeweler's now getting resized. I told my mom about it, and she said she's happy we're not engaged, that we need to take our time, but she's happy for me, and she likes Doug a lot. She got to spend most of a day with just him over Thanksgiving, while I went Christmas shopping. I'm glad she likes him.
