Mostly pictures here, because I was out marveling at the loveliness of my lake again... I did not have the energy this weekend to go climb down into a ravine and then back out again. Maybe this weekend. Anyway... my lake had some presents for me that I might not have found if I hadn't gone out to one of my special spots...

Now that is something else. Finding Turtle shells... and those weeny weeny beasties have to scrabble themselves up and out of that hole which looks like hard work to me.... oh those weeny little souls.... I spose there are lots of predators for them, like seabirds and peregrines and other fishes?
What happens to the old shells... do they get eaten, used up, by something.
And the picture where you did a 'Stonehenge' with the tree... nice feeling then!!! Like seeing The Green Flash at sea. Just a magic moment.
The columbine over here is out as well, lots, ours are pale yellow, white or blue around here, not a pink one. That is so pretty a shade. In the autumn we have bright yellow ones, about the height of a finger... and they are found by the millions in Finland as well.
They used to be ALL OVER my beloved Gran's garden.
You are going to climb a RAVINE???? you take care and take Honey with you!!! Ravines can be awkward to get back out of!!!
Bless you lovely Elf... Oh your woods are soo good to have round you. I do miss my walkies in real woods, and my garden. Andrew lends me his garden, but I can only comment and pull a few weeds, and not actually GROW things. I have four pots and three window planters ... so things are being grown chez Looloo. (three strawberries yesterday!!! yum)

I suspect the shells will get eaten by ants and things like that... ants are a marvelous clean-up crew. I don't know if there are birds that would try to eat the baby turtles... I think they are too small for an osprey but we have gulls sometimes, and I suspect herons might try one for a taste, since they're very fond of frogs. Once in the water I'm sure there are lots of fish ready to have one for a snack!
I have no idea what those two pretty shrubs are doing out on the hook... I haven't seen them anywhere else. I'm not even 100% sure what they are.
