[Out on an idle walk to kill time, Cross had found himself intrigued by the sight of an unfamiliar female form moving down the street--And then pleased to discover that it wasn't quite so unfamiliar after all.

He's a man with manners, though, and so waits for her to finish her transmission with her watch before he approaches from behind. Falling into step beside her, he's careful to let the sound of her rolling luggage mask the sound of his steps until he bends to bring his lips beside her ear and give himself away.]

Why, miss Elena... And all this time, I thought you'd just abandoned me.

[Really, the city looked rather pretty with the light dusting of snow. How long ago had it fallen? How thick? Had it snowed last year and she had forgotten or been too busy to even notice?

Fingers worked the keys of her communicator, answering the few welcoming texts she had begun to receive from familiar faces, ignorant of the figure slowly creeping up behind her. It was in the second before she felt a presence behind her that she felt the heat of a nearby body, a familiar scent, before the voice gave himself away. It took every last ounce of willpower not to scream out in surprise, although her heart was hammering loudly against her ribs.]

Abandon you? Perish the thought.[Stopping, she turned towards him with a flushed smile.] My dear General, did you come out all this way just to greet me?

How could I resist a presence as warming as yours, in weather as barren as this?

[Smiling down at her as he straightened, he raised one hand to draw his gloved thumb fondly over her pink-tinged cheekbone.]

Surely you can't begrudge me that little favor, since you do seem to have warmth aplenty... Or do my eyes deceive me?

I'm so very glad to see your flattery hasn't changed. I would have been utterly devastated if it had.

[Keeping a hand around the handle of her luggage, her body shifted, weight moving from one foot to another. The touched of the glove was cold, but welcomed, eyes sparkling slightly with a subdued mirth.]

Now, what kind of woman would I be to deny a man, such as yourself, a little thing such as that. No, I think I'll take your favor a step further and ask that you join me for a celebratory drink. [Taking a step forward, she wrapped her free arm around one of his own, grinning.] So perhaps I should be asking you if you would you be able to grant my little request of being my escort for the afternoon.

Oh, and as for your eyes...they can take what they see as they wish to see it.

Haven't we been over this before, my dear? It's only flattery if it's untrue. And so let me continue my pattern of honesty by telling you that accompanying you for a drink would be a true delight.

[Bending once more to reach around her small frame and catch her luggage in one hand, Cross brought it around beside himself before straightening and giving her a polite nod. Directing her towards the pub, he led with subtle and gentle motions that he was no small amount of pleased to find her picking up on automatically. It was always so refreshing to encounter a woman so aware of her body's workings on that level.

As they reached the pub, he extended the arm holding her luggage to hold open the door, gesturing with the arm she held that she should precede him.]

By all means.

Oh! You are absolutely right, we did have this conversation before. Forgive me, General, I'm afraid my memory has failed me. I do apologize. [Her body reacts to his movements, shifting only slightly as her luggage is taken by Cross, her hand releasing the handle when his takes hold.] So please, don't let me get in your way of your honest. Though, perhaps I should warn you, I have a tendency to give as much as I get.

[This had to be the best way to return to the city. Sure, the weather had been on the cooler side than she would have liked, however tall, warm figure at her side was plenty to keep her attention. Her interactions with Cross had always been interesting, each reacting off the other's faint movements and intonations. To find a man who knew how to communicate with just the lightest of actions and movements in the city had been an absolute treasure ( ... )
