[Maciel's doing nothing unusual here. It's laundry day again, so he's outside of the house, hanging up clothes on the line. The kids are running about in the yard, but it's okay, because he seems to have plenty of help with the laundry for the moment.]

[This is said to a pair of squirrels that balance easily on the rope, and strangely enough they seem to understand Maciel as they each take a clothespin and hop over to the next line. Maciel drapes a blanket over the vacant space, and the squirrels fasten it in place, waiting for the next. A few other squirrels skitter up the tree that the rope is tied to, carrying along something else to hang.]
[Naata is standing by the laundry basket, watching awkwardly. Okay, so compared to some of the things he's seen happening with that mysterious candy, this isn't as bad, but really?]
