7th Trial ♎ [Video/Action]

[Terezi stumbles wearily out of the catacombs and takes a second to sniff her surroundings before giving a weak but triumphant cackle. Her trusty nose has lead her back to the surface. Exactly what she intended! Just like she intended to recieve the battle wounds she's now sporting to her arms and legs. All in the name of justice! She turns on her ( Read more... )

[Here, Terezi. Have a particularly shiny Kanaya.]

Terezi, please go back to your Hive. Karkat will be worried, I'm sure.

Karkles is a spoilsport! Those catacombs are just dying to be investigated!

[It's sort of hard not to notice the glowing, even when she can't see it.] You smell very...bright today!

Karkat is not in best help from the past few 'events' of the City. And it's very unsafe regardless.

Ah. You've noticed. Yes, I've just returned after about a week's break. It's been a lovely trip, really.

What do you mean? [What is this about Karkat not being well? This she will pay attention to.]

That is good to hear! This latest investigation was very enjoyable too! I guess I will just have to save investigating it further for another day. [Sigh. Why do you ruin all her fun Kanaya?]

[It's a meddler's job.] I can't imagine the catacombs are very enjoyable for a trip, much less a return. And despite my earlier remark of trans-species cultural sensitivity, the trip back to Veil really could have been better.

Gamzee has been taking care of him, and I bandaged him up before. I think he's doing better than he was before I left, or before I arrived.

What are you talking about? I have been wanting to explore them since I got here! I admit they were not as tasty as I would have liked but it was all very exciting and action packed! ...Good things do not seem to happen very often in the Veil anymore. I was not dead was I?

Kanaya what are you talking about? What happened to him? [This doesn't sound like a good thing. What did she miss?!]

You were not. You were... actually very helpful. Albeit it... wasn't entirely by your permission... [Whoops.]

... [How to put this gently.] I gave everyone a bit of a scare... under false pretensions that Karkat was deceased. He was not [Anymore.], but he was injured. I'm still not sure on the details, but apparently something else happened as well...

That is good to hear. You should not be surprised that I was helpful. I am always helpful! That is part of bring justice to the wicked! It helps those nasty criminals get what they deserve!

He was deceased...you are saying you thought he was dead?! How could that have happened? How could he even have been injured? Ruby City is a nice place and I do not think Karkat has any enemies here! [What have you done to her matesprit Kanaya?! She's freaking out just a little here.]

...

... Terezi, I don't believe this place is as... nice as you've made it seemed.

I'm sorry. It was... it was my fault. [She'll avert her eyes at this.] I left him, because I thought he was... I was wrong. Gamzee and I both made sure he was alright.

I do not understand! How was he injured in the first place!? [She's honestly concerned about him, and about learning that things might not be as nice here as she would like to believe.]

It seemed nice enough - there was a corn maze that Aradia and I decided to investigate. Karkat came after us because he was worried.

... it was... there were monsters in there. Karkat and I were both attacked, and... I couldn't defend him...

An investigation gone foul. That is too bad. You should have known that any investigation is severely limited without my powers of observation!

What sort of monsters? Were they like imps? Or more like...Jack? [This is troubling news. There was no corn maze when she left, and there certainly is not one now or she would be able to smell it. Kanaya does not lie though, and her testimony is one Terezi trusts. So that must mean that Ruby City created that maze and filled it with monsters on purpose. But to what end?] It is not your fault Kanaya. However, I do not understand how it is possible that you believed Karkat to be dead, and then it turned out he was merely injured. It is not like you to miss such an obvious detail.

More like barkbeast. Very... deformed things.

... [She was trying to not get too close to the truth with this.] Because... if what I gathered of the incident is correct, he... temporarily was...

... dead, that is...

That does not sound very fun at all. I am sorry I was not hear to help.

How is that possible? Karkat's dream self is dead! How could he have come back if he had died? It is not that I do not believe you Kanaya, but this does not make sense!

It seemed to be a... particular feature of the maze... those that died returned to life after a certain amount of time. I hadn't known that at the time... I was focused on escaping, and...

... I left him there, Terezi... to escape on his own...

Wow, apologies for the wrong "here." What is grammar? l1br4tor October 20 2011, 15:35:20 UTC
[Terezi is a little shocked by Kanaya's distress. She doesn't think she's ever seen Kanaya look so upset before.] It is not your fault Kanaya. I do not blame you. After all, like you said, you did not know. Karkat is alive and fine now, so there is nothing you need to worry about.
