[202 doesn't waste any time on pleasantries when her video feed clicks on, and with as liberally-coated as she is with what is obviously blood it's not hard to guess why. Her tone is measured, tight with control without which she'd clearly be on the verge of hysterics.]

[202 nods once before clicking her watch shut, concentrating her attention on Vash's battered body--already much improved, he was still likely to be in quite a bit of pain when he came to, and wasn't quite out of the woods just yet as far as his remaining injuries went.

The sound of James's approaching footsteps were a welcome distraction, and she turned to face the door as she heard him drawing closer.]

[Her tone was far calmer than she actually felt, of course, but 202 was as businesslike as ever--Efficiency had to come first, for Vash's sake if not that of her own mental wellbeing.]

Just trust me. [He pocketed the watch and held up his wand over Vash. Then he waved it and started muttering words. Sparks flew and the wounds slowly healed.]

02 watched, incredulous, as actual magic happened right before her eyes. It shouldn't have been so surreal, not in a place like Ruby City, but even still...

"James, this... Please, tell me it's not an illusion...?"

Oh it's real. [He gave her a small smile and finished up his work.] Not only will the wounds be healed, he'll feel better for a while too. Sort of a magical painkiller. I'm no Madam Pomfrey but I've done the best I can.

[She should be reassured by the fact that Vash's breathing eases and he seems to relax a bit. His eyelids flutter a bit.]

[202's eyes flick from James's face to Vash's and back again, her whole posture visibly easing when Vash's breathing steadies and his body seems to relax. Turning to face James directly, she leans close and wraps her arms around him to pull him into a tight hug.]

Thank you, James. Just... thank you.

[From the cot Vash moans a little, shifting to try and unconsciously relieve the pain in his right hand, which has become lodged partially under his side. Now that it's healed, the object that it had broken around is digging in uncomfortably.]

[02 turns back to Vash as the hug ends, brow creasing with concern as she notices his shifting. Gently, ever so gently, she moves his hand out from beneath his side to ease his apparent discomfort--Though as she does so her eyes are back on James, and it doesn't seem to occur to her that Vash might indeed be gripping something in that battered hand.]

...You shall have to tell me more about that magic of yours sometime soon, James. I must confess, I'm very curious.

[Vash sighs softly as 202 moves him, finally loosening his hold on the object in his hand. It falls to the mattress with a soft jangle-- the necklace he always wore, a metal cross, a key, and one of 202's dog tags.]

[Vash's moment catches 202's eye and she turns, then simply stares at the tangled collection of items for a stunned moment before reaching to delicately collect them. Why had he... Of all the things to hold on to, let alone that tightly...?

After a few seconds she regains her composure enough to finish her sentence.]

...wait. Not much to be done but wait, I meant to say. But truly, James, I can't thank you enough for what you've done. I owe you a favor--A big one.

What are friends for? Just let me know if you need me again. The healing spells should be permanent but the pain will probably return in a few hours.

[He placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it. He had an idea for something to request but he'd ask later. For now, he turned to leave.]
