Lesson 030 - [Video/Action]

[Maciel and the kiddies are out by the orchards. They'd been wandering about the festival booths earlier, but today they've decided to do some apple gathering!

The dragonlings are scattered about picking apples and bringing them by the tiny armful to the basket that they've all commandeered.]

[Maciel chuckles.] Not terribly so, and they know not to wander too far off.



[Naata is immediately on the alert when the little thing makes its leap, instinctively stepping in front of Maciel as though to protect him. It would almost be cute if he didn't look so serious about it. Both dark dragonling and Maciel look somewhat baffled at Roachi, although the former looks a little more annoyed.] ~...~

Ah, what is that?

[ergaleomancer]

[[Roachi quite calmly tries to land in Naata's hair. Theta reaches out and grabs it before it can.]]

This is Roachi. Who is being a naughty roach. [[She's reprimanding it as much as explaining.]]

He's my companion.

[[She reaches up to put it back under her shoulder armour. It stays there for a few moments, then hops into the air again and flies around, fascinated with the dragonlings.]]

Roachi!!

[watching_seven]

A roach? [Well, that's a bit baffling- the young mage has never heard of anyone keeping a pet roach. He watches along with Naata as the thing flies up and off again.

By now the other dragonlings have come over to stare at the thing, just as curious.]

[ergaleomancer]

[[It takes a particular interest in the green one, and tries to land in their hair. Theta goes limping after it.]]

Roachi! Get back here!

[[She sighs.]]

Yes, a roach. They're adorable, don't you think?

[watching_seven]

A...adorable...? [Not the word he would have associated with a roach, but he does find the creature's behavior interesting.]



[That startles Taata, but she doesn't go swiping at it, instead peering up at the flitting Roachi before lifting her hands up to it.]

~So small! ...but...it doesn't look like other bugs...?~

[ergaleomancer]

[[It lands on her hand and patters its antennae about her palm. It's made of metal and amber, with little bits of wood as well. It's a very beautiful thing...if you like bugs to begin with.]]

Mm-hmm, cockroaches are just the sweetest things...when they're behaving. Roachi...

[[She walks over and moves to take the roach back.]]

~It's so pretty!~

[The other dragonlings gravitate closer to Taata to see, and even Maciel peers over them for a look. Then the little wood dragonling holds out the mechanical roach to Theta for her to take.]

[ergaleomancer]

[[She takes Roachi, and it takes off flying again, trying to land in Taata's hair.]]

Roachi! Why are you doing this?

[[Theta's clearly getting frustrated with it, and she looks over to Maciel with a petulant frown.]]

I'm really sorry about this.

[watching_seven]

[The girl giggles, ducking a bit, but if the roach wanted to land on her she wouldn't make any attempts to stop it.]



~Maybe Roachi just wants to play!~

[Maciel chuckles, shaking his head.] It's all right. There's no harm done. And maybe Haata's right.

[ergaleomancer]

[[Almost as if to confirm the words, Roachi takes off for Haata and flies in a circle around the redhead before going for Haata's hair.]]

I...suppose so. He's been rather bored here.

[[She retreats to sit on the hay bale, keeping an eye on Roachi as he plays with the dragonlings.]]

[The kids squeal with delight, and Haata giggles, turning to run away. Well now they're going to turn this into a game of tag, it seems.]



[Naata watches disinterestedly as the others scamper about, remaining by Maciel's side as usual.]

I guess even roaches want to have fun.

We used to play a lot when I was a child. Back home, I usually sic him on people I don't like. Here...things are just quiet.

[[She looks down at Naata.]]

Don't you want to play?

[[Roachi is happy to try to tag the children. Hair seems to be a favourite target, but he dips and swerves and plays with all of them.]]

[Naata just looks flatly at Theta and glances off at the others, seeming content to watch them as they run about, apple harvesting all but forgotten.]

[Maciel laughs, having expected as much as he stoops down to pick up the basket they had been using.]

[[Roachi comes over to try to land in Naata's hair.]]

It looks like Roachi wants to play with you~.

~.....~ [The dark dragonling looks up at the approaching flying roach, and then takes several steps to the side to get out of its way.]



~Aw Naata! Come on!~
[Saata smirks, then runs along after the roach.]

[[It definitely wants to dive into that black hair, though. It follows.]]
