[Jan knew the watch was on even as she'd been shooting at it, but she hadn't expected anyone to actually message her. She should have known Jim would ping her.]

Didn't even dent it. Someone else shot his watch so I thought I'd give it a try. Especially now that I have a new gun to get used to.

You've got good aim, if nothing else. I've spent time trying to destroy the things as well, of course. I wish I could harness the technology they use to repair them so easily.

Whatever tech they use to repair them would be helpful but I'd rather figure out how to use duplicate the communications features.

I understand needing to be useful.

[She wants to ask about the watches, but she's afraid that the wrong people might find out about her curiosity.] We have similar tech at home, but it doesn't fix itself like these. What sort of commissions do you have?
