[Spock hadn't experienced something like this since his kahs-wan on Vulcan. The test had been a survival test, for a pre-teen Vulcan to survive on his own for ten days without food, water or weapons with him or her within the Vulcan Forge.

But this...this was different. He hadn't experienced such vegetation like this on any planet he and the ( Read more... )

[Suddenly, a few feet away, from out of the brush, a tall figure appears! This demon is disheveled, dirty, tired, but looks *thrilled* to see that river.]

YES! YES YES! WATER! Oh, finally, oh thank you thank you! [Running right over now]

[Spock's ears twitch and his eyes go wide at the loud sounds of someone moving through the brush and then yelling at the sight of water, apparently. He straightens up a bit to see who it is and immediately raised his brow. What a fascinating looking person. But he was running right for the water...]

Wait, you should not just rush into the water. [He holds up his hands, moving a little towards the path that the other person would undoubtedly take. He was uncertain as to what was in the water, so to jump headfirst - so to speak - into the water had a high probability of being fatal in this dimension.]

[Lukas skids to a halt - he hadn't noticed another person nearby. But he immediately looks depressed. He's a bit more wound up than usual, making his speech slur even more than normal.]

Oh no! There's not snakes or something in there, right?! I'm so thirsty! And I reek! And where did you come from? I don't think I've ever seen you here before!

[He wondered just what type of character this person was going to be, especially with his fast-paced speech.] Please remain calm.

I have not encountered anything in the water, but I have stayed on the bank, gathering the water I need from there. Going into the water may provoke larger aquatic life, or snakes. [He pauses for a moment before going on.] My name is Spock... I am a resident of Ruby City. Perhaps not as long as some of the other residents I have met though....

Oh, but I really wanted to rinse off, too...

Ah, I'm Lukas and I've been in Ruby City awhile. It's changed before but it's never gotten this bad.

[Lukas walks over to the edge of the river, looking over, his long tail swishing curiously.]

You don't really think there's anything in there, right? Like piranhas or something?

Piranha generally attack Human-type species when water levels are low and the food they eat is not available at the time. It seems with this particular river, the level is quite high, but it would not be safe to assume that because of that fact it would be safe to go into the water. In fact, it could be quite hazardous. Even if there are no piranha in there, there is no way of finding out there are other carnivorous species of fish within the water unless one would go in and allow themselves to be attacked.

[Spock would have gone on, but he figured he was rambling and took the liberty of ending that portion of the conversation in favor of following the introduction one.] I have only been in the City for a few weeks and I am still getting to know the habitat of this dimension as it differs greatly from my own.

Oh.

[That was a lot of words. But he got the gist.]

Well, usually it's just a city, but every so often it changes like this. I think there's some overpowered jerks who do it. Hopefully this won't last long.

[At this point, he kneels down and looks into the water. He's so thirsty, he can't wait any longer to take a drink. He's very careful about it.]

[Spock takes the moment to observe the newcomer, taking in the pointed ears, misshaped mouth, the set of horns - though one seemed to be missing.]

I concur with your statement. I enjoy researching history, not living within it for the most part, even if it does have some benefits for science.

[He clears his throat while Lukas takes a careful drink.] Pardon my forwardness, especially if it is rude, but you are not Human, correct? Or perhaps some sub-species of Human I have not encountered yet until now?

[Not to mention a long, thin forked tail too, which swishes about happily as he drinks.]

Ah, that's WAY better! Feel like a new man now!

Oh, um, I'm a demon, actually~ Don't worry about it. I get asked it all the time!

Hm. Demon, or Daemon, is a word from Earth's Ancient Greek period, and is a supernatural being from various religions, occultisms, literatures, and folklores that have been passed down. They are described as something that is not Humans, and in general usage, is malevolent.

[He eyes Lukas for a moment.] You do not look malevolent.

[He blinks and cocks his head at Spock. Malevolent he is not.] Wow, you're like some kinda walking encyclopedia!

Hmm, I can be plenty malevolent! It's a demon's nature after all.

[He is hardly a walking book of knowledge. He is a Vulcan.]

I did not mean to offend you if I have, as I was just pointing out my observation of first meeting you. [He seemed more cheerful than he did malevolent to Spock.]

None taken~ I just have a lot more personality than most demons.

[Spock eyes Lukas curiously. He had never met a demon, never really thought of them to exist as he classified them with angels in Human mysticism. Nothing but lore, nothing to be basing facts on.]

I was not aware that demons were...[He stopped himself before he could say something that might be classified as 'insulting'.] ...that demons had various personalities that were not completely malevolent.

I guess I just have more priorities than the rest of them. But I can still be malevolent when I need to, trust me.

I will take your word on that - I will not push you into proving that as I have no way of getting aid should I become injured, and I do not have sufficient medical knowledge to help in case you were to be hurt. [He looks around] Despite the abrupt way I...we, perhaps I should say, have been placed here in this realm, the view of it is quite stunning.
