[[Theta is sitting at her chair in her shop, the clocks and clockworks around her all ticking along merrily. She smiles at the camera, though someone well versed in noting details about a person might notice that it's just a bit forced and stressed ( Read more... )

[He's going to take his time first to gather his thoughts after their most recent 'bonding' - he's still a little flustered and embarassed. He's got all poise back as he returns, hesitantly smiling.]

I'm sorry I took so long to rejoin you. I simply had to... clear things up... clear my head. But I wanted to check on the progress of our couple arrangements...

[He's referring to the room, yes - but mostly his own requested treat~]

[[Theta looks up from her notebook and smiles cheerily.]]

Mr. Kirkland! I'm glad to see you again. Yes, Grell took care of the door for us, so everything's in order. Fetch-It, mind the store.

[[The little watch salutes and sits on the edge of the counter, facing the door so it can greet customers as they come in, while Theta turns and heads for the back workshop.]]

Come on, I'll show you to your room, and then I've got scones and jam and cream in the kitchen~. Fetch-It even surprised me...he can't talk, as you've seen, and yet he managed to ask someone for help and brought back several jars full.

[[In the back room, there's a set of stairs, leading up to the flat above, and she starts limping up them, still shy of putting her full weight on her false leg.]]

[he happily perks up at that, barely noticeable past a brightened expression in his eyes.]

That's wonderful! I'll have the little chap show me the way to where he got it, then... restock when I need to.

[at seeing her struggle, he does at least politely offer his arm.]

Would you like some assistance...?

[[She's very uncertain about that arm. She's too used to struggling through things herself, but after a moment's hesitation, she puts her arm through his. She leans heavily on him when it's her bad leg down, and uses him for balance even when on her good leg.]]

Yes, I meant to ask him to tell me where he got it, but I've been otherwise occupied. I'm still working on an order for ShinRa, my line of assistants, not to mention making a cooking clockwork. I...can hardly cook at all, so it's mostly things that can be reheated here. [[And even those she frequently burns.]]

... ah. Well, I suppose I could... I could cook on some instances, if you needed the help...

[Erk. He shouldn't have offered that. He's a terrible cook and he knows it. He's almost certain his cooking would offend...]

... anything else you might need, as well. I'd be more than happy to keep my worth in living here - running errands, or at least accompanying you in assistance.

I'm sure we'll manage, as far as cooking, it just won't be anything terribly nice until the clockwork for it's finished.

Errands would be lovely, especially as I intend to get plenty of dresses for Grell. Have you had a chance to speak with her yet~?

No, but you've mentioned her quite a bit already. I'd be delighted to meet her, if you'd be willing to introduce us. And we can leave on an errand after awhile. I simply need to have some time to get myself comfortable, contact a few others...

She's beautiful, Mr. Kirkland. I just know you'll adore her~! [[It's obvious that Theta is thoroughly smitten with her.]]

But yes, get settled, that's the first priority.

[[Once at the top of the stairs, she leads him through a doorless doorframe into the shop next door, which has been cut through the dividing wall with a chainsaw. Of course, Theta has taken the time to put up some edging, and it's not visible that that's how it was done aside from excess dust on the floor around where it had happened.]]

This room will be yours, next door on this side is Gamzee, and on the other is Grell. There's two beds in your room, so if someone important to you needs lodgings, there's room. Of course, as you can see I do take an interest in helping out those who need it, so if someone important comes and you're still by yourself, I may have to ask you to double up. I'll save that for someone who truly needs it, though... [[It looks like she has someone in mind that she would invite to stay with her if they turn up.]]

... as of yet, there's no one of importance I would - or could - invite... it will likely develop according to your plans, Miss Buck - [ohwait. What was he supposed to call her?! He wasn't sure the address in the catacombs was proper...] - Elizabetheta.

[... because that wasn't awkward...]

It's Miss Buckley if we're to be formal, but if we're to be friendly...which really rooming together warrants? Just call me Theta. Many other people do here anyway; people have no sense of propriety and I don't like being called such an effeminate name.

officerofspade March 30 2011, 20:45:27 UTC
... Theta then. [A nod of affirmation.] The same can, of course, go for you, you know. You may call me Arthur...

ergaleomancer March 30 2011, 20:53:26 UTC
[[She nods politely and smiles for him.]]

Arthur, then. Unless you'd prefer I called you England? I don't mind either way.

Ah, speaking of countries. Norway is here, and wanted to get in touch with you, and also to know if you've seen America. Not that I know why you'd give much attention to an upstart country of idiots...

officerofspade March 31 2011, 00:10:32 UTC
[he chuckles - he's rather pleased she's showing such equal care on what to call him.] Arthur. Arthur is perfectly fine. No need for those sorts of formalities any more.

[... and the name catches his ears. SUDDENLY JERKS BACK, and suddenly VERY attentive.]

A-Alfred?! Is he here? Did he say anything about him?! [It's a wonder he doesn't grab her with the demanding his voice - and he looks the most troubled/intrigued he has been since arriving here.]

Reply

ergaleomancer March 31 2011, 01:25:04 UTC
...I take it Alfred is America? No, he didn't say much, just that he had been told he was here. The rest was some poppycock about him 'usually being in charge' of you, but I told Norway right off that that was nonsense.

officerofspade March 31 2011, 01:31:47 UTC
[his face - he looks huffy and impatient, and also tinged red up to his ears.] ... it is indeed. Alfred being in charge of ME... hrm...

... b-but regardless... if Alfred is here...! I do need to get in contact with Norway... with Alfred too...

[He's alreasdy walking into his room, flustered, looking to his watch.]

Thank you, Theta, for passing on the message...
