Things have finally settled down, but there's still that lingering sense of unease at the back of his mind. The Darkness is still here,

It hurt. First there was the shocking pain of nothing, then right as you get used to it, it's dragged away from you, and after the soothing numbness all the emotions grate and grind on the inside of your brain, until you feel like you're going to go insane from the sheer power of it.

And then you grow used to it, and can face the world again.
