[Gilbert is staring at the communicator wondering why he's always so awkward and full of failure at these things when he leans back with a heavy little sigh. And that? That is the first time he notices Naoki there and he nearly jumps out of his skin and half falls out of the chair. Oh... no he's not on edge or anything.]

[Gilbert smiles a bit more and tries to relax. But the problem with trying to relax is it's difficult to actually do it because he's trying so hard. He nods though.] I hope not. But... [A pause.] I'm... not entirely sure... what everyone will say. [Well, Naoki saw Elliot's reaction so...]

[Gilbert lets his eyes shut for a moment and smiles faintly.] You're right... [He leans his head back to glance up at Naoki, reaching one hand up to touch his fingertips along his cheek.] I'm sure you're right.

[Gilbert smiles in return. His hand lingers at Naoki's cheek for a long moment, before falling back down to rest on too of the pocket watch.] The other night, with Elliot... I'm sorry you had to walk in on it the way things were.

[Gilbert blinks a bit at that, fingers curling around Naoki's hand lightly.] Still, it was a little difficult, I'm sure. But I'm... glad you were there.

[He nods a bit at that.] I'm fine. It's... things are complicated, in several ways, between Elliot and me. [And all his adoptive siblings and him, actually.]

[A smile at that, faint though it is. His gaze drops to look at their fingers twined together as they now are. He looks up again as Naoki speaks though and nods.] We are, yes. Elliot... he isn't bad. [Cranky. Very very cranky. But Gilbert really would like it if things weren't so strained -- but the tension between the true Nightrays and him and Vincent has always been an odd situation. And his contract with Raven had not helped this at all.]
