Carmen, resting against one of the walls of the building, was idly flipping through a book on 19th century structures. A small pile of other books, covering subjects from language to physics, were in a bag at her feet. Closing the book and putting it into the bag with the rest, she adjusted her fedora.

Marluxia had conveniently himself been the library a moment after Carmen had walked out. He knew his plants, but not necessarily the medicines that they could combine to form. While it wasn't the best, he picked up a couple of books about botany, and one about "Mystic Herbalism" that he had the feeling was mostly garbage, but perhaps not a total waste of his time.

The red was impossible to miss. There was no way this woman was a townsfolk. Not with something quite so flashy on. He made his way over to her, making sure his books kept themselves tucked safe under his arm. He glanced at the spine of the book on his way over, before his eyes flicked up to meet hers, or at least, where they should be from under her fedora.

"Pardon me, I happened to notice your book..." He smiled charmingly. "Are you studying the architecture of the City?"

Adjusting her fedora to where her face was visible, Carmen nodded. "Yes, I am." He wasn't someone she recognized, but Carmen wasn't phased. "I've been doing it for several weeks now. Who are you?"

"I am called Marluxia." The Assassin replied with a small smile. "Are you a researcher, Madam...?"

"My name's Carmen Sandiego. I suppose I am, yes. Technically, a traveling historian." She returned his smile, trying to place the name and failing.

"When you put it that way, you make it sound as if you chose to be here." Marluxia replied with a pleasant tease. "I am called Marluxia. It is a pleasure."

"I'm not so lucky, I'm afraid." Carmen answered. "Likewise. I take it you're not one of the town captors?"

"Would I admit that freely?" He asked, a coy smile on his face. "But I am not. You could certainly verify that with other prisoners. They do not seem eager to fraternize with us, for whatever reason that may be."

"Would you?" Carmen replied before nodding at his answer. "They don't, except the occasional message over the watches, from what I've observed. Maybe they're just shy." But having a feeling they weren't, Carmen laughed at the mental image of their captors shying away from the city as a whole.

"I am certain they only want to make us all play nice with one another." He replied, going along with the tease.
"Though that begs the question whether or not you would simply play nice to their desires."

"The definition of play nice varies from person to person. I like to stay with what that I'm good at." Carmen gestured to the books. "Which has been researching things since I've been here."

"and what has your research uncovered so far?". Marluxia glanced at her book curiously. Her knowledge, provided she had any, would be quite valuable in finding hidden spots within the City walls

"The architecture seems to be from different periods of time, from what I can tell. There have been other things that have piqued my intrest, but I'm still looking into them." Knowledge was power, but it took a while to compile notes.

Marluxia nodded.
"And you are contented like this, or are you simply passing the time?"
He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, gauging her reaction.

"Compared to my life before I came here? It's very different. I'm content with the chance to discover new things. I'm not content with the inability to travel." It was an honest answer. Carmen reached up, removing her fedora and holding it at her side.

"Do you want to escape?"
Marluxia cast her an impirious sidelong glance, before turning towards her slightly, voice low.
"a few of us plan on rebellion."
