Allow me to be the odd-ball with a non-anime character interacting with him XD vulcancommander July 24 2011, 17:14:18 UTC
When Spock had gone out for a walk as a means to explore the city in a better light, he had not expected there to be rain. With no communication channels that would give out a day's or week's forecast, it was difficult. So when the Commander had gone out for morning exploring, he hadn't expected to get soaked when he was well away from the clinic. He didn't allow it to effect his mentality though, and moved through the rain anyways, in hopes of familiarizing himself with all the landmarks of the city.

What he found was rather...interesting. A bright pink dojo, sticking out like the metaphorical sore thumb he had heard his shipmates complain about in several different occasions. Not completely distracted by the brightly colored building, Spock also noted someone standing in front of it - another resident of the city perhaps.

The boots clicking on the street from where he walked did nothing to hide the Vulcan's presence as he approached the red-head wearing what looked to be a historical costume. 'I should assume those are his usual ( ... )

yay it's a spock! ishinbattousai August 3 2011, 23:11:05 UTC
Kenshin's ears had caught the sound of feet approaching a few moments before, though his gaze never left the building. Once the starfleet officer was closer though, the red haired former hitokiri turned his gaze to catch sight of the pointed eared man. He didn't sense any danger, considering the man hadn't made any effort to conceal his approach. His usual disarming and friendly smile immediately found its place upon his face as he exhaled a friendly laugh.

"The streets seem to be busy this morning despite the rain." He wondered briefly if the oddly colored dojo had caught the other man's attention as well. Kenshin noted there were several rather distinguishing features about this person. Something not quite human, perhaps? It wouldn't be impossible, Kenshin had met quite a few people in the city that weren't human. This man seemed to hold himself differently, quite disciplined. It was actually quite respectable.

((ooc: sorry this took so long! LJ's little issue this past week kind of ruined my drive!))

"When I started my walk earlier from the library, I did not predict rain would be in the forecast." Spock explained as he came to a halt next to Kenshin. His eyes were still fixed on the dojo, thinking that perhaps its color had been a trick of the light, or some sort of illusion. No, no illusion or trick. It was definitely pink.

"Has this dojo always been of this color? It is from my understanding of Earth's history, from what they taught at Starfleet, that this color was only used on items that were not buildings. Perhaps pink was as an accent color, but never used as a color to cover the entire building..."

[ooc: No worries! :3]

"Aaah. This one is not sure. This one has only been in the city a short time, but it is unusual to see a dojo that is this color." A sigh passes Kenshin's lips, but the expression is an amused one. This man seems interesting, and different so far.

There's something about his mannerisms and the way he talks that is not familiar at all, and it piques Kenshin's interest. At the mention of "Earth's History" Kenshin's attention shifts sharply to the man near him. His features catch Kenshin's attention first, the warrior filing away the information from observation quietly.

"It seems this city is full of anomalies..." He chuckles once he's done speaking.

Spock could say the same thing about Kenshin - his mannerisms, the way of addressing himself as 'this one', his outfit, were peculiar. They both sort of stood out though, the red-head from what would be Earth's past and the alien from Earth's future.

"Yes, it is. I believe it is because the captors have deemed it acceptable to whisk people away from their various worlds and universes to 'play' with them, so to speak." Spock's brow furrowed a little. "Judging from your state of dress, you are of Asian orientation, specifically of the region of Japan...perhaps of the Edo period." He was only making inaccurate guesses as he had no other way of judging Kenshin save for what was in front of him right now.

Edo? Kenshin blinked, his eyes focusing rather clearly on his current conversation partner. The accuracy of where he'd guessed Kenshin was from was a bit startling to say the least. Eventually, Kenshin responded with a laugh.

"Aaah. Edo has been called Tokyo for a little while now. The Meiji Era has been a dramatic change for everyone." He trailed off, the gears in his head turning. "But yes, this one is from Japan. It has been this one's home his whole life."

He tilted his head to the side a little, a vague expression of curiosity. "Where are you from?"

"The Meiji Era, the first half of the Empire of Japan that started in September of 1868 and..." He paused, looking at the person before him. It would be best, of course, to not disrupt the prime directive...even if they were in a different dimension. Spock skirted away from that subject and instead nodded at Kenshin's admittance to Spock's guess and then focused on the question.

"I am from the 23rd century, on a planet 16 million lightyears from the planet Earth where Japan is located. I am a Vulcan and my name is Spock." He held up his hand in the traditional salute of his people.

Kenshin blinked, one hand hesitantly lifting to try and mimic the greeting. At least, that's what he figured it was. He tried his best to mimic, though it didn't come out perfect. He did however, smile sheepishly.

"Aaah. This one does not find that hard to believe, after all that this one has come in contact with here in the city..." He wondered briefly what the other man was in the middle of saying before. But if he were from the future that Kenshin's world shared, the swordsman figured it might be best he not know. There was some enjoyment in seeing life played out as you lived it. Knowing what was coming before hand would take that away.

Brown eyes watched the hand attempt to mimic the greeting, much like McCoy had tried back on the Enterprise at one point. He nodded in acknowledgement, not expecting him to have it perfect. It was better than McCoy's at least.

"There are many fascinating things within this dimension that I wish to study. I have been told, however, that most of the documentation of the city's history before various people's arrivals has been wiped." Spock's mouth formed a thin line for a moment as he studied the tree behind Kenshin, not wanting to be rude and stare at the man who had caused him no insult.
