It was a horrible day to be out and about and truly, this early in the morning, any self-respecting Italian nation should be cuddled in his bed dreaming sweet pasta dreams ( ... )

The new figure wasn't one that Kenshin recognized, but he wondered just why he was wondering out in the rain without an umbrella. Though the rain had stopped to a slow, sputtering drizzle for the time being, it was a little silly to wander around the city without something just in case the thunderstorms decided to start again. With a quiet chuckle that sounded more like an exhale than a laugh, Kenshin shook the umbrella dry as best he could and strode the few steps over towards the small country.

It was a quiet gesture, one meant to be one of kindness. Kenshin re-opened the umbrella and held it over the brown haired man's head, as his gaze followed where Italy was looking. He didn't say too quiet, instead choosing to speak.

"You should be better prepared for a day like today." He smiled, his violet colored eyes darting over to look back at Italy again.

Still so occupied by the sheer oddness of a pink dojo right here in Ruby City or anywhere at all, Italy only noticed the man with the umbrella when he approached him. He watched him, then laughed softly in delight as the man opened the umbrella over his head.

His brown eyes met Kenshin's, gazing at him in quiet fascination. They were violet, like Russia's, but they struck Italy as far kinder. A giggle escaped him. "Ve~ Germany says that, too!" He wrinkled his nose. "He says I don't plan ahead."

Italy turned his gaze upwards, to the umbrella, then gazed back at Kenshin with a smile. "But sometimes you just have to go into the world unprepared and trust that there will be a kind stranger willing to share their umbrella."

"Oro? Germany....?" Immediately, Kenshin recalled the conversation he'd had upon his arrival with someone named Switzerland. Immediately, he smiled and nodded. It wasn't beyond possibility that there were more people like Vash here. "Ah.. it's probably a good practice for you to plan ahead if multiple people are telling you to.

The second part however, caught the red haired swordsman off guard. His gaze followed Italy's to fix on the outstretched umbrella. He laughed again. "Ah. You have figured this one out." He glanced back at the dojo. "This one was waiting to see when the dojo grounds would open. He was hoping to take a look inside." There was a pause before he continued. "It looks like the thunderstorms will ease up soon. You should keep the umbrella for next time."

He laughed, a bit chagrined. Yes, he should probably plan ahead, he conceded in the privacy of his own mind. It would have saved him quite some trouble, several lost battles and a lot getting yelled at, but planning ahead was hard when you would rather forget completely that the things you had to plan for would happen at all.

Italy's eyes went wide at the kindness offered to him. "Ve~ but then you won't have an umbrella anymore! I wouldn't want you to get wet." He placed a hand on the handle anyway, just shy of touching Kenshin's hand, and flashed him another sweet smile.

"My friend Japan told me about dojo. He didn't tell me they're pink, though! I thought they would come in somber colors. Like... brown maybe. Or white. Or black. Or green. Something military-like!"

Kenshin chuckled in response, carefully relinquishing the umbrella into Italy's grasp. The man seemed quite disarming, and Kenshin had to admit that his company wasn't unpleasant. He was a little strange, but that could have been said about a lot of the people who lived here in the city.

"Aa... Usually dojos are a more plain color. This one has not--" Wait. It registers after a moment. Japan? Of course there would be someone who would go by that name, if there was an Italy, or a Switzerland. Shaking off his astonishment, he continued. "This one has not seen one this color before. It is quite new."

Italy gave another little giggle, followed by a delighted, "Ve!"

He tilted his head to the side as he gazed with an odd intensity at Kenshin, still wearing that smile and a soft look in his eyes. "You have an odd way of talking," he remarked lightly. "Does everyone talk like you do where you are from?" He tilted his head further to the side. "And where are you from?"

Italy twirled the umbrella's handle around in his hand, then continued the barrage of questions before Kenshin had a chance to reply. "Who are you, anyway? I'm Italy Veneziano." He laughed softly. "Feliciano Vargas. I have many names!"

Oh. Wow he has a lot of questions. Kenshin laughs softly, his own gaze going back towards the building as he thought for a moment. "This one is just being humble. Though, this one is certain that there are others who speak like this in Japan." He glanced back towards Italy. He had been right in assuming that the brown haired man was one of the people in the city who shared their names with countries.

"Aah... Italy. This one has met someone who's name is Switzerland." By now, he's beginning to wonder just how many countries he might meet here in this bizarre place.

((ooc: sorry this took so long! x( LJ issues completely ravaged my drive!))

Italy rubs the back of his head, messing up his hair in the process. No matter why he does it, it is a very odd way of talking. Never mind! There are more interesting things to mull about.

He nods happily. "Yes, Switzerland, he's my neighbour!" He pauses for a moment, then realizes that Kenshin, not being used to nations, might not get the proper meaning. "We're neighbouring countries. He's to the northwest of me. He shoots at me when I run through his backyard!"

"What's your name anyway? I told you mine!"
