Goro was up earlier than usual. Mostly because of Toge- the dog had needed to go out, so after getting up and quickly washing up, Goro had gotten dressed and leashed the Daschund, leading him out of the apartment.

Once Toge had relieved himself (and Goro had cleaned it up), Goro returned to the apartment long enough to wash his hands and feed the dog. Leaving the dog to apartment sit, Goro had headed out again to make a run to the grocery store, but had ended up lost. Wandering, and occasionally glancing at his communicator in case a map felt like showing up (which it didn't), Goro sighed and looked around, gaze wandering before it stopped on the dojo.

"...A dojo?"

Walking towards it, Goro noticed someone in front of it. Goro took a breath and did what came naturally. Lifting his right hand in a wave, he called.

"Good morning!"

"Oro?" Kenshin's thoughts cut off quickly, his head turning to catch sight of Goro as his body turned to face him. The shocked expression didn't last long, instead melting away to be replaced by a friendly smile. It was a bit surprising to see anyone else out in this weather, but just because it was raining didn't mean the life in the city had to stop and wait.

"Good morning," He began. "Are you out for a morning walk?" Kenshin's question was asked with a friendly lilt. It was amazing how many people had been brought to this city against their will, and even more amazing was the variety there of. It seemed that there was no end to the differences each of the people in the city had, from their origins to their abilities to defend themselves and more.

Just from looking at the style of dress Goro wore this morning, Kenshin at least knew he was from a very different time than Kenshin himself.

Goro shook his head at the question. "No, I was just going to get groceries, but I popula got lost and came here instead." But it wasn't a bad place to end up. It looked peaceful and was better than landing in a monster infested part of the forest.

Brushing some hair out of his eyes, Goro looked between the dojo and Kenshin.

"Is this your dojo?"

Popula? Kenshin blinks at the seemingly out of place word, momentarily thrown off by its usage. It takes him a moment to actually respond to the question as a result. He smiles in an apologetic sort of way as he lifts his hand.

"Aaa. No. This one does not own this dojo, or any others. This one is a rurouni." Though, he had to admit that that title was one that he hadn't used in a long time. Even if he was stuck in this city for the time being, he had more or less settled down and grown accustomed to staying at Kaoru's place.

It was a horrible day to be out and about and truly, this early in the morning, any self-respecting Italian nation should be cuddled in his bed dreaming sweet pasta dreams ( ... )

The new figure wasn't one that Kenshin recognized, but he wondered just why he was wondering out in the rain without an umbrella. Though the rain had stopped to a slow, sputtering drizzle for the time being, it was a little silly to wander around the city without something just in case the thunderstorms decided to start again. With a quiet chuckle that sounded more like an exhale than a laugh, Kenshin shook the umbrella dry as best he could and strode the few steps over towards the small country.

It was a quiet gesture, one meant to be one of kindness. Kenshin re-opened the umbrella and held it over the brown haired man's head, as his gaze followed where Italy was looking. He didn't say too quiet, instead choosing to speak.

"You should be better prepared for a day like today." He smiled, his violet colored eyes darting over to look back at Italy again.

Still so occupied by the sheer oddness of a pink dojo right here in Ruby City or anywhere at all, Italy only noticed the man with the umbrella when he approached him. He watched him, then laughed softly in delight as the man opened the umbrella over his head.

His brown eyes met Kenshin's, gazing at him in quiet fascination. They were violet, like Russia's, but they struck Italy as far kinder. A giggle escaped him. "Ve~ Germany says that, too!" He wrinkled his nose. "He says I don't plan ahead."

Italy turned his gaze upwards, to the umbrella, then gazed back at Kenshin with a smile. "But sometimes you just have to go into the world unprepared and trust that there will be a kind stranger willing to share their umbrella."

"Oro? Germany....?" Immediately, Kenshin recalled the conversation he'd had upon his arrival with someone named Switzerland. Immediately, he smiled and nodded. It wasn't beyond possibility that there were more people like Vash here. "Ah.. it's probably a good practice for you to plan ahead if multiple people are telling you to.

The second part however, caught the red haired swordsman off guard. His gaze followed Italy's to fix on the outstretched umbrella. He laughed again. "Ah. You have figured this one out." He glanced back at the dojo. "This one was waiting to see when the dojo grounds would open. He was hoping to take a look inside." There was a pause before he continued. "It looks like the thunderstorms will ease up soon. You should keep the umbrella for next time."

Yukimura had just finished his morning training on the other side of the building, and was just coming around the corner to make sure that the doors were open for any visitors. He quickly spotted the swordsman standing in the rain, and sets his spears down so he could go properly greet his guest.

"Ah! Good morning! I hope you have not been standing out here very long! I was not expecting anyone to be here quite this early!" Don't mind his loud enthusiasm, Kenshin.

Kenshin caught sight of the other man shortly after he rounded that corner, and by the time Yukimura had approached he was already turned in his direction, an easy smile placed on his face. One hand remained holding the umbrella over his head, the other's arm draping to rest over his sword hilt casually. The enthusiasm Yukimura showed wasn't something Kenshin hadn't dealt with before. In fact, it was a bit refreshing. He was obviously excited about running the pink dojo.

"Aaah. This one was simply exploring. He had noticed the dojo from a few blocks over and wanted a better look.} He paused, offering something of a laugh. "Are you the one running it?"

Well, Yukimura was certainly excited about running the dojo. He wasn't excited about the pink, however. But he didn't have the heart to change it, since Taiwan had been so proud of her work.

"I am one of the people running it, yes! Musashi-dono is the one that put all the effort into cleaning up the building so that we could use it!" He laughs a bit, himself. "But Taiwan-dono thought that it needed... Some more color."

"Oro? This one understands now," Kenshin replied, the words muffled by a bit of barely contained laughter. It was just a little amusing that someone had managed to convince a couple of serious minded fighters to color a dojo pink. Kenshin wasn't going to judge. In the end, it didn't matter what color a dojo was, just that it was.

"What sort of kendo are you planning on teaching here? Is it for everyone to learn?" The questions were general, but Kenshin was genuinely curious. He had to wonder if Kaoru would have tried to do the same thing, were she stuck in this city with them all.

Musashi was trying his hardest to slowly lessen the amount of pink in his dojo. It's just not manly! But it would be too obvious if he did it all at once, and also Taiwan worked so hard at it.

So while he was replacing some of the furniture, he noticed the man gazing at the dojo.

But instead of welcoming him straight off, he snuck round behind him, ready to attack.

so much historical research sob. ishinbattousai July 24 2011, 11:15:34 UTC
Kenshin had already noticed he was being snuck up on, though the only indication he gave as such was a quick flick of his glance in the general direction Musashi had snuck to. He remained standing, taking in the features of the dojo.

By now it had stopped raining for the time being, so Kenshin closed his umbrella and shook the excess water off, almost as if he was passing the time. He was debating what he should do in this situation -- dodging wouldn't be too hard, but there was no sense in making a big fuss over something that didn't seem to be hostile.

Kenshin had to wonder what the other man was thinking though.

Ehhh, did that guy notice him? It looked for a moment that he did. And if he did, that would mean he might be a warrior! No matter, Musashi will just be extra careful.

Considering that they were still very much in the open (the town only had so many places to hide behind), Musashi's movements were very limited. At least, until he after he ambushes the man.

Which he will do. Right now. Out of his hiding spot, Musashi leaps out, brandishing his bokken and oar, sweeping them straight at the red head. Time to see how this stranger responds!

Kenshin only had a moment or two to make his decison. He could either take the hits, like he would have without hesitation before, or he could defend himself. This man did not seem to carry any sort of ill intent -- perhaps only a bit over enthusiastic, so Kenshin's decision was fairly easy. Shifting the weight to the furthest foot from Musashi, Kenshin moved himself to avoid the first blow in what would hopefully seem "sheer luck" while taking the second square to the back.

He stumbled artfully, mostly on one foot before catching himself all too easily. "O-ororo!" Kenshin made a show of wincing, before dusting himself off a bit. While he wanted to avoid sticking out, there was no sense in letting himself get seriously injured. Feigning surprise, he glanced at his attacker with an apologetic look on his face.

"Aah... Has this one stumbled onto a training exercise?"

Allow me to be the odd-ball with a non-anime character interacting with him XD vulcancommander July 24 2011, 17:14:18 UTC
When Spock had gone out for a walk as a means to explore the city in a better light, he had not expected there to be rain. With no communication channels that would give out a day's or week's forecast, it was difficult. So when the Commander had gone out for morning exploring, he hadn't expected to get soaked when he was well away from the clinic. He didn't allow it to effect his mentality though, and moved through the rain anyways, in hopes of familiarizing himself with all the landmarks of the city.

What he found was rather...interesting. A bright pink dojo, sticking out like the metaphorical sore thumb he had heard his shipmates complain about in several different occasions. Not completely distracted by the brightly colored building, Spock also noted someone standing in front of it - another resident of the city perhaps.

The boots clicking on the street from where he walked did nothing to hide the Vulcan's presence as he approached the red-head wearing what looked to be a historical costume. 'I should assume those are his usual ( ... )

yay it's a spock! ishinbattousai August 3 2011, 23:11:05 UTC
Kenshin's ears had caught the sound of feet approaching a few moments before, though his gaze never left the building. Once the starfleet officer was closer though, the red haired former hitokiri turned his gaze to catch sight of the pointed eared man. He didn't sense any danger, considering the man hadn't made any effort to conceal his approach. His usual disarming and friendly smile immediately found its place upon his face as he exhaled a friendly laugh.

"The streets seem to be busy this morning despite the rain." He wondered briefly if the oddly colored dojo had caught the other man's attention as well. Kenshin noted there were several rather distinguishing features about this person. Something not quite human, perhaps? It wouldn't be impossible, Kenshin had met quite a few people in the city that weren't human. This man seemed to hold himself differently, quite disciplined. It was actually quite respectable.

((ooc: sorry this took so long! LJ's little issue this past week kind of ruined my drive!))

"When I started my walk earlier from the library, I did not predict rain would be in the forecast." Spock explained as he came to a halt next to Kenshin. His eyes were still fixed on the dojo, thinking that perhaps its color had been a trick of the light, or some sort of illusion. No, no illusion or trick. It was definitely pink.

"Has this dojo always been of this color? It is from my understanding of Earth's history, from what they taught at Starfleet, that this color was only used on items that were not buildings. Perhaps pink was as an accent color, but never used as a color to cover the entire building..."

[ooc: No worries! :3]

"Aaah. This one is not sure. This one has only been in the city a short time, but it is unusual to see a dojo that is this color." A sigh passes Kenshin's lips, but the expression is an amused one. This man seems interesting, and different so far.

There's something about his mannerisms and the way he talks that is not familiar at all, and it piques Kenshin's interest. At the mention of "Earth's History" Kenshin's attention shifts sharply to the man near him. His features catch Kenshin's attention first, the warrior filing away the information from observation quietly.

"It seems this city is full of anomalies..." He chuckles once he's done speaking.
