Who: Shredder, Kakuzu What: Deals are made, and Masamune better watch out When: Evening Where: Anywhere in Ruby City Warnings: pg? Status: [In progress.]
Said man had no idea of the Shredder's plotting. He had been trying to lay low for a while after regaining his hearts. The watch that was tucked safely away in the folds of his cloak had been taped over with duct tape - it had been giving him too much trouble recently.
He walked down the street, noting the Shredder's presence. He didn't recognize him, but he walked on as if the man wasn't there.
"Kakuzu is it?" Shredder said smoothly, straightening up and facing the man fully. "What an odd coincidence, I was looking for you." And he was a little bit difficult to find, but years of doing this paid off sometimes.
It annoyed him that the man did not stop, but Shredder shrugged it off and walked out the alleyway after him. "I want something done, and, from what I hear, you are the best person to do it."
"What did you hear, what's the job, and what's in it for me."
Kakuzu was an intelligent man, but he wasn't one for fancy wording or messing around. If it seemed flashy and well-advertised, he knew it probably wasn't worth it.
"What I heard is my business. However, the requirements for my mission are a rather... specific." Which was why Shredder couldn't trust any idiot to do it. "All I want you to do is to find one Masamune Date and defeat him in battle." His eyes flared, "I do not want him dead however." That was important. "And for your payment?" It was daunting how money had little importance here, but he would have to work it, "A favor... and eye for an eye if you will." It was a big risk that Shredder rarely took.
"If it's about me, it's hardly your business. I'm trying to lie low. Tell me what you heard and who it was from."
His tone said very specifically that you were not the one in charge here, and would be lucky to get any type of favor from him, so don't push your luck.
He dares...? Shredder remained perfectly still, but he had to fight to quell the rage of this act of insolence. "Very well. I found you over the network." And Shredder had been impressed.
Right, whatever. "The reason? Revenge." Amusement, intrigue, and anger were also reasons for all this effort, but revenge was the easiest for humans to understand. "Plain and simple." A plain and simple revenge plot that could probably span for months if the Shredder was careful enough.
The thought of pursuing him to do this one thing slashed at Shredder's pride. He was not someone who gave up easily however, so he followed him. "Why not?" What did it matter of the Shredder's intentions as long as the man got his favor in return?
"I'm not willing to risk being seen again to attack a stranger for someone who is either too weak to do it or thinks he's high enough in rank that he can hire someone to get their hands bloody for him. If you want revenge, deal with your own problems and get caught yourself."
"You have high standards, I like that." Oh a complement, "Very well. Revenge is one reason, but mostly it is intrigue. This young man came close to besting me in battle and now I wish to test his limits to see how far he can bend before he breaks." He had a few more ideas of what he can do to push Masamune further and further, and this was just the start.
"Hn..." He mulled it over. Was it really worth a favor? "...any favor. No matter what it may be. And if you don't follow through, you won't see your beating coming."
He walked down the street, noting the Shredder's presence. He didn't recognize him, but he walked on as if the man wasn't there.
