Alphonse had been considering the best cover story so that Maciel won't suspect that the dragonlings were planning a surprise for him. Of course, they might have already concocted a story. Ah so much intrigue! It was a nice day at least, for an adventure, and Alphonse was looking forward to it. After all, the dragonlings were good kids. And Maciel was an awfully nice guy, so there was no down side to this. He glanced upwards at the sun-filled sky. For just a moment, he wished that he could feel it in addition to see it, but thoughts like those never led anywhere productive, so he brushed it away.
He'd tended to the kitten before he'd left, made sure that she was secure in his room -- and had everything that she needed. After all,t he last thing he wanted was for Edward to decide to evict his little feline friend when he wasn't around.
So Al was generally in good sorts as he lifted a hand to knock on what he hoped was the right door, trying to keep his strength in check so that the large metal and leather fist only made a dull thud against the wood. He stepped back to wait, managing mostly not to fidget.
