St. Patrick's day was one of those odd holidays that had been picked up aboard the ship. Not surprising since it was an excuse to indulge in that alcohol that everyone pretended didn't exist on the ship. Plus, tonight it meant she could dress up in one of those colors she had been considering and see what kind of reactions it got her.

And after her earlier announcement that she wanted to have fun, it wasn't surprising that she'd eventually show up at the Black Stallion, dressed in that promised short skirt in a vivid shade of green and looking for a certain bartender. Leaning against the polished wood, she grinned. "Hey, Jayne. Love the new look."

Blushing a bit, Jayne ducks his head shyly and grins. "Thanks, Jan. Canada insisted. Said to pinch anyone not wearin' green. And... You look good too."

Too good, really. That tiny little skirt was stirring up all sorts of thoughts that didn't belong in his head. Jan was his friend - he ought to respect her enough to not be imagining her without her clothes on.

Jan noticed that little hesitation and it was as flattering as the compliment. And Jayne acting shy? That was cute and kinda hot. Not that she hadn't thought he was hot before, but now she really couldn't not think about it.

"Thank you. You're probably not Irish, but..." Leaning farther across the bar, she kissed his cheek. "Some traditions can be altered a bit."

He couldn't do anything but splutter in response to the kiss, and oh god, the blushing. It took over his face, spreading down his neck and up to the tips of his ears.

It was tempting to tease him about the blush, but that really wasn't fair and she hated it when she was teased for it, so she'd let it go. For now. "Did you find anyone to play tonight?" She paused, considering the many possible meanings of that and then added, "a St. Patrick's day party needs music."

"Oh, no, I din't even think 'bout that," Jayne blinked, looking at her with wide eyes. "Actually, Canada set most'a this stuff up. I just helped decorate and made food. And I'm servin' beer. Though if you wanna take over later, I might be able to play a couple tunes. Don't think I know anythin' appropriate though..."

"I'd love to help out, especially if it means you'll play." She tried to think of what would be appropriate, but parties on the ship usually became a crazy mix of cultures. Which fit Ruby City, actually. "Don't worry about what's appropriate. Either the crowd will take the lead or they'll listen and be glad to have music tonight."

D'awww, he'll just sit there and blush while she talks, nodding his head in agreement. He could do that. "Well, prolly best to wait on a few more people, yeah? Get this party really underway before we get crazy 'n all."

"Perfect. I'll let you get back to work and I'll see what sort of trouble I can find." And because she really did like seeing him blush, she gave him another kiss on the cheek. "Let me know when you need me."

Well, if a blush is what she wanted, Jayne's was more than happy to oblige. He'd just... duck his head and go greet Theta, glancing back at Jan as he moved away.

And Jan? She was going to head into the crowd and see who else had arrived, smiling when she looked over her shoulder and noticed Jayne watching her. That blush of his really was attractive and the the thought of getting crazy tonight...Well, she could hope, right?
