It was with great reluctance that Naata had sent them out, but there had seemed to be little other options left, and even though they had the watches, it was difficult for them to communicate when their words could not be heard to those not nearby. Unwilling to leave Maciel's side as the young sorcerer remained resting from such extensive use of assimilation magic, the dark dragonling opted to stay behind. Unfortunately things needed to be done; chores were easy to handle, but they still needed to restock their food supply. That required going out.
Naturally, Haata was eager to help, and while this in itself was not a problem, the fire dragonling's sense of direction was. Naata was no fool to let anyone go off on their own, much less Haata. Kaata's offer to accompany the redhead was not much better, even if Kaata was less capable of getting hopelessly lost. Perhaps he should have expected it, but the wind dragonling offered to accompany both for the sake of having something to do other than clean, and while Saata was second oldest of the group, Naata wasn't convinced in leaving the responsibility solely to him.
In the end, four out of seven were out wandering the streets; Aata, third oldest but most responsible as earth dragons tend to be, Saata, the ever restless wind dragon who while not ecstatic at Aata's tagging along, would put up with it, Haata the fire dragon who like most of his elder counterparts could travel in a straight line and still manage to lose his way, and Kaata, the timid light dragon, youngest of the bunch. Maciel probably would have a fit once he found out that they'd gone out on their own, but for now he'd be blissfully oblivious. Saata, despite being known as the mischievous one of the bunch, took it upon himself to keep an eye out on the others as they made their way down the streets. Things were so much different when their caretaker wasn't with them- not that he was scared, of course! Well... he was a little more wary of things, but he'd never admit it. Putting on a brave face, he led the way, pointing ahead with a stick that he'd picked up and brought along just for this occassion. He thought it made him look cool.
~It's this way! Don't you remember, Aata?~ He pointed off down the street, but his grin vanished at the other's response.
~Of course I do! Which is why I'm saying it isn't! The market's back down that way!~ Aata sighed, gesturing back where they'd been walking. He was confident that he knew where the market was, but he wasn't surprised at all that Saata disagreed.
~A-ah, don't fight you two! But...I think Aata's right. We always go the other way, don't we?~ The little blond-haired dragonling flailed, glancing between the two. Now he wasn't so sure anymore.
~....you mean it's not this way?~
At this the other three looked at Haata, and then at each other. Aaah, which way was right?!
