It just happened to be one of the few times Riku decided to venture out into the actual city from his, Sora's, and Kairi's house on the edges of the treeline. There were a few things he needed to pick up in a couple shops; one of which... well, he needed to have a certain Anklet repaired.

He had it hidden in his pocket as he entered the store, browsing at first. Something about the different weapons and defenses of other worlds always fascinated him. Of course, the others in the store hadn't quite registered to him until he heard the door open again. ...Well, just his luck.

This could, no.... would get very awkward rather quickly.

If this were a different kinda game, this would completely turn into a DMC-type battle notquiteanobody February 24 2011, 02:56:59 UTC
Well, after slowly crossing some of the other items off his list, Roxas decided that today he'd finally check out that weapon shop he'd been told about. With a little chime from the bell above the door, he stepped inside, giving a quick glance around to get an idea of where he could expect to find things ( ... )

Yep. And it would be epic. limitless_land February 24 2011, 03:47:56 UTC
A peacekeeper would definitely come in handy, especially when they were surrounded by multiple types of swords and other armaments. Riku could fend for himself, obviously, but at the present he would rather avoid unnecessary conflict ( ... )

Sadly it's not... maybe we'll get an action movie event later and it can happen then. notquiteanobody February 24 2011, 08:28:09 UTC
This was a quandary. A guy that he viewed as having wronged him by no small measure was standing between him and an object that he really, really wanted. On a plus side, considering what was just said and how he personally felt, at least he was sure that this wasn't going to erupt into another duel to the death... sort of. Whatever he wanted to consider that last time.

"Well, that makes two of us then." His tone merely became annoyed as he sighed a little, deciding that he wasn't going to get that sword down if he just stood there. And at least with things established as they were, common courtesy probably wouldn't be too much to ask for. "Anyway, could you move? I wanted to grab something and you're in the way."

It was childish, but cutting back on the politeness was probably the most he'd manage for now. At least as far as trying to very subtly explain to his nemesis that he had neither forgiven, nor forgotten their last significant encounter.

At least by his recollection.

If we do, it will be awesome. limitless_land February 24 2011, 09:07:27 UTC
Good, then it was mutual. His attention was still on Roxas' movements, rather than the bit of armor in his hand. His memories were still faulty, pieces missing- those he had a feeling were connected to Xion but didn't delve further into them. Thus, he wasn't sure what to consider that last duel other than desperation to have his friend back.

But tearing apart another person's life...

This 'nemesis' was quite well of his sins, thank you, and of the fact that he as of yet hadn't been forgiven for them. Well, this particular one to be more precise. With a sigh, he rolled his eyes and moved to the side. "Whatever."

A small sign that he knew that he hadn't been forgiven for that previous encounter, and more than likely withholding the truth from him after. After all, he didn't know just how much Roxas recalled. It would have been a touchy subject, and he didn't want to push his luck.

With that rather literally said and done, Roxas made his way over to where the other boy had once stood, glancing upward and eying the weapon on the wall rack overhead. Even he could tell that it was well out of his own reach, he suspected that the height difference between himself and Riku would've made it reachable by him ( ... )

Riku watched Roxas' movements closely, eyebrow raised. What in the World was he trying to accomplish, reaching and attempting to jump up like that-

Then his eyes followed to the sword. Ah, that's why. Somewhat amused, Riku hid his smirk at the feeble attempts behind his shirt collar. Just like Sora,' he thought, 'Trying to reach something up on the top shelf without asking for help.'

And then the sword came tumbling down, and it was all Riku could do to keep himself from laughing aloud. Like he needed any extra proof of the connection. "You alright there?"

It was humbling and any attempt he'd made to seem perfectly capable of handling himself more or less became entirely wasted the moment his prize nailed him in the head. But while his ego was entirely sore, he at least had the consolation that his prize was in hand now.

Oh and Riku actually seemed to care. How unexpectedly thoughtful.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I've been banged around a lot worse than that."

You should know, you did some of that bruising.

Roxas took a moment to clear his throat, figuring that he'd at least try being civil if things were going to be this way. Kingdom Hearts knew he wasn't going to let the silver-haired boy have the sole satisfaction of taking the high road here. "Thanks for asking."

It was more an after thought as he immediately turned his attention to the weapon in his hand. He tilted it around, seeming to examine it from every angle he could muster with a wide grin on his face. "I don't know how, but it's exactly like the one in the comic book."

A good trade, nonetheless. Though, the caring was laced with the expected amusement. Hm... Kairi wasn't that well versed in summoning her own Keyblade yet; maybe he should pick up a sword for her while he was here as well. At least for practice purposes so she could work on her form whilst they practiced that together. After all, it had taken plenty of time for Soul Eater to-

That wording... He sighed, continuing to browse the selves after giving the nobody an absentminded nod. Attempts to be civil. It was a small miracle they weren't at each others' throats already, considering what had already occurred between them. "No problem."

No one taking the low road now, it would seem; that was just fine with him. Though, what was said about a comic book? "Perhaps the blacksmith knew of it; after all, the library here has books from every world." His curiosity was piqued. "...Which comic?"

He would forever blame the other boys on the islands for this, he honestly would.

It was dumb, potentially dangerous and maybe even a little stupid. No, it was VERY stupid. Peculiarly, Roxas seemed to demonstrate the grace of an experienced swordsman as he neatly twirled the sheathed blade around, hand grasping the smoothly polished scabbard. Then with a firm flick of his thumb, pushed the tsuba just enough so he could pull the blade free.

Setting the scabbard aside, he began studying the edge of the blade in earnest, genuinely amazed with just how the weapon looked. And then he heard Riku open his mouth, which reminded him that he was there. Almost forgot. How unfortunate.

Still, he figured that he could at least spare the answer. Plus, that was some potentially valuable information -he'd ended up here right when he'd just hit an important plot in his weekly readings and finding out that he still might be able to keep up on his comics was a welcome thing.

"It's called Houin no Tamashii. The sword probably says as much, but it's a samurai story." Thinking about it like that, he couldn't help but to find some ( ... )

And if he expected Riku to heal him after an accident while doing that, he was in for a rotten piece of luck; after all, the silver-haired teen was horrible with magic to begin with. It was almost funny, though, watching Roxas from the corner of his eye... just in case he'd have to put up a shield to block a potentially fatal blow ( ... )

He paused a moment. There was a familiar strain in the silver-haired boy's words. It was one he'd mostly recently used himself when a few words with and a chance touch with Xion brought back that fragment of memory. And while Roxas doubted that this meant anything on that magnitude for his nemesis, it at least was an adequate hint that there was likely a headache involved ( ... )

Ironically enough, it was, but that memory of cat-and-mouse could wait; there was something else that needed to be done. He doubted Roxas would like to hear it, but he was growing tired of ignoring the metaphorical elephant in the room and the sparks of irritation resonating from them both.

He righted himself, turning his back to the Nobody of his best friend as he eyed two rather similar swords displayed two cases away. True, they had the Keyblade, but with Kairi's skills still so sorely lacking, it wouldn't have hurt to prepare in case anything like what had happened before within the city repeated itself.

"I'm fine," he replied just as dryly, shrugging it off. True, it was inconvenient to be reminded in certain ways, but with every hole filled... Riku smirked faintly. "Thanks though."

His hand rested momentarily on a pole-arm, and his eyes seemed to dance with memories that didn't belong to him. Ansem... He glanced back to Roxas. "If you're still sore about our previous encounter... we should have a rematch. After all, I can't ' ( ... )

There that was. That familiar flare of aggravation that had been simmering with a lid on it since he'd found out he was even in the same city. Granted, the combination of Kairi and Sora being their usual selves at dinner turned off the heat temporarily -it was just hard to be resentful around those two. Admittedly that was something of a mixed blessing. Because now, it was like a great deal of ignored hostility catching was up with him.

All he could do though was shake his head, "It's not just that. I can't remember things clearly and one of those things tells me that you did a lot worse than just beat me there."

Roxas is quiet for a moment as he eyes an elaborately designed broadsword, quietly admiring the meticulous detail in the demonic motif that decorated the hilt and hand guard. Nothing that was really suited his personal tastes, but he'd easily admit that it looked cool. Pushing the distraction aside though, he composed his thoughts enough to respond ( ... )

Acting in front of those two would always be a simple task for him; after all, he knew better than most just how much Kairi could do when she was angry. It was better to pretend and behave than to cause trouble in the same room as his best friends; how they always managed to negate negativity helped that along as well.

But there it was, that aggravation he recalled so well. He knew he was going to be in for it before any words left his mouth, but he couldn't help but feel as though this was almost familiar. ...Missing memories?

"There are plenty of things I have done that I'm not proud of," he admitted, picking up a short sword, unable to truly admire its simple beauty with the topic at hand. "Some I don't quite recall."

Riku sighed, before turning slightly to face Roxas better. He had a feeling... "Mm. You have that right, but don't think I'll be holding back."

Almost at the same moment, Roxas shifted to meet the gaze of his nemesis, finding himself oddly rather accepting of that reply. If anything, his comics had taught him that holding back in a serious duel was an insult to the opponent; win or lose. "I wouldn't want you to. If I still feel this way when I can't remember things, then it must be serious. So when that happens, it'll be more than just a grudge for that one fight. It'll be my feelings pushing against yours to at least give you a hint of what you put me through."

And sorry... until Diz shows up, I'm holding you responsible for what he did too.He knew some of his anger was misdirected, but he couldn't help it. It's not like he couldn't rationally think that Riku was afraid that Sora would sleep forever. But when he mulled things over, it just seemed to him like there were so many other options out there than how things ended up going. Yet he had the impression that he didn't even think before picking the most cruel options. And then not even the faintest inkling of remorse for ( ... )
