Who: Edogawa Conan, Mouri Ran (Lavi and Black Star are more than welcome to get involved). What: Investigating this 'love' thing. When: During the Valentine's Event. Where: The Library. Warnings: G. Status: [In Progress]
Ran's voice came from over his shoulder as she leaned in to look at what he was working on. She'd been a little worried when she hadn't seen him at the apartment all day, especially after the way he'd been moping at breakfast, and it hadn't been difficult to figure out that he might be at the library. He seemed fine now that he was here, at least, though she was curious about what he was up to.
"I don't even know what it looks like," Ran retorted, an eyebrow raised, but she had gotten a glimpse of the list's contents. "'Thinking about someone'? 'Increased heart rate'?"
"Sssshhh!" Conan looked over to Lavi desperately, hoping that the Bookman hadn't heard. He slipped off his seat, grabbing textbook, notebook still tucked inside, and Ran's hand. "He'll hear you."
Pulling her after him, he tugged her towards the lesser of the two downstairs reading rooms.
"Hey-!! Conan-kun--!!" Ran let herself be dragged, utterly bewildered as to what he was up to. "What's going on?!"
Mou, why was he in such a hurry? Conan didn't even notice when the notebook fell out of his book and onto the floor with a small 'thwap'. Ran quickly scooped it up and tucked it under her arm, still being dragged by the shrunken detective.
"'Poetry', 'flowers', 'unusual acts of kindness'..." Oh, those 'symptoms' sounded familiar. They looked almost exactly like the 'Art You In Love?' magazine quizzes that Sonoko always used to take. And the circle next to one of the items was telling.
Ran gave Conan a look that was entirely conspiratorial. "Is Conan-kun getting these 'symptoms' around someone~?"
Oh god. It was everything he didn't want to happen--
Well almost. The only saving grace was that he was Conan, not Shinichi, and had all his clothes. "No! No -- it's not like that! Lavi-niichan's a friend!"
Of course, and all the whispering in corners that they do....?
"You're blushing, Conan-kun~!" Oh, he was adorable. Ran couldn't resist teasing him, crouching down to poke at his red cheeks. "Maybe you're anxious about being discovered because you're embarrassed~?"
That's totally heterosexual whispering in corners.
"I'm not blushing! And it's natural to be embarrassed, that's not a sign of--"
Ran's finger was cool against his cheek. Frowning, Conan put his hand over hers, cupping it to his face. There was no denying it -- Ran's body temperature was much lower than his own. Or was it his that was higher ... ?
"Ran-neechan hasn't come straight from outside, has she?" Conan asked hopefully.

"A list?"

Ran. Ran. Conan grabbed for his book, slamming it shut over his notebook. "It's not what it looks like!"

He took a deep breath before smiling. "Just investigating--"
She had his notebook? But--

"No! Well -- maybe just the one ... but that's not definite proof of anything! I might just have been anxious about being discovered ..."
Conan's blush really isn't helping his case.

"Eh? No." Ran blinked at him. "I looked for you downstairs first."

"A-ah." Conan swallowed. "Can -- I have my notebook a moment?"
