While she had been a bit skeptical about attending yet another ball after the events of the one she had been at prior to arriving, Lottie had found herself attending out of curiosity. And despite the fact that it wasn't much like the ones she had attended back home and that she hadn't really dressed up like most of the others, it didn't fail to keep her just a bit entertained.

It wasn't until the end that something, or rather someone, caught her attention as they wandered a bit from the cathedral. Something about the girl seemed familiar. Aside from possibly seeing her over the network, something else was pinging her as being familiar.

And since it was bugging her, the Baskerville decided to head towards the other, to find out why the familiarity, pausing only moments after she neared the bench, a friendly smile in place.

"You wouldn't mind if I were to take the empty spot, would you, miss~?" A brief pause followed, as if thinking over what she said before speaking once more. "Unless of course you're holding it for someone then I'll just find another..."

"Ah?" Ada turned to look at Lottie -- somehow, she definitely seemed familiar, though her memory was failing her; she couldn't place just where she'd seen her before. No matter, it probably wasn't anything too bad, hopefully.

She shook her head, scooting over a little as she patted the empty spot. "It's no problem at all, miss! G-go ahead... I'm just sitting here and relaxing while I wait."

Some part of her was telling her that this might not be a good idea, but she decided not to pay it any heed for the moment...

The smile still in place, Lottie gave Ada a brief nod in thanks, smoothing out her dress before taking a seat. Giving a brief glance at the other girl, it kept eating at her now that she was closer. Something was definitely familiar...

After a moment of silence, she decided to speak up once more. "Waiting for who, if you don't mind my asking~?"

If anything, Ada definitely had the looks so there was definitely no problem in wondering if it was a significant other. And if it wasn't, perhaps it would shed some light on everything.

Ada paused a little before answering -- she didn't see too much of a problem in answering that. "My older brother! He, Gil and miss Alice are atill in the cathedral hall making merriment, I'm assuming."

Glancing back towards the cathedral, she smiled a little. "I'm just glad that they're all having fun... to be fair, I was worried since they'd been here longer than I have, but I think my worries were misplaced. They seem just fine..."

Looking at Lottie curiously, she tilted her head. "What about you, miss? Are you waiting for anyone, as well?"

At the mention of 'brother' and 'Gil', it finally hit her. Of course she was familiar in some way. Though also the mention of a brother hit her in a different way. While they weren't exactly blood-related, the rest of the Baskervilles were like a family and the thought that the others weren't here...

Though at the redirected question, Lottie snapped out of her thoughts to give a brief head shake. "I'm afraid not. Afraid I'm just more for the relaxation part~"

Pausing once more, Lottie found herself lost in thought. It really wouldn't hurt to ask, right? If anything she could be wrong.

"When you said 'Gil', you didn't mean 'Gilbert Nightray', do you?"

"Ah... I see. There's not a problem with that -- a masquerade ball like what we had earlier can be quite tiring." Ada nodded in agreement. She would know, as well, considering that she spent most of her time helping to plan for it. "Did you enjoy it, at least?"

There's a touch of recognition on her features as she looked at Lottie again, this time more curious than anything else. "You know Gil, as well?"

She gave a small nod before answering. "It was a bit different from ones I'm used to but it did have it's moments." At least there was some truth planted in there somewhere.

"You could say that~" Granted, her only real talk with him was here and of course if he were to arrive at any moment, surely something would happen. "Though I'm afraid I'm much closer to his brother. Perhaps you know of him as well?"

"You mean Vincent...?" Okay, that was a new one. Ada was starting to feel a little uncomfortable, and that sudden urge to take to her heels and flee was coming back. Still, she stayed as if to try and reassure herself that this was just normal talk.

"Y-yes... I know of him. WHat I wish to know is how you know of him as well, miss..."

"Mm, I do." A nod followed the end of the statement, that first smile plastered on once more. The pieces were all falling into place. The mention of Gilbert, and now the confirmation that this was who she had been thinking of.

"Big Sis happens to be a good friend of his~ Surely he's mentioned me before." Honestly, Lottie doubted Vincent would do such a thing as it was....Vincent.

"You are?" Ada blinked, regaining that smile of hers as she relaxed, her shoulders deflating the tension. "I-I see... I'm glad to hear of it."

There was a pause, and then a bit of a frown. "I'm afraid he hasn't... the most he ever talks about is Gil, when we're not discussing the occult."

She gave another nod, smile still plastered on. So far, so good.

Though the smile faltered some at Ada's frown before Lottie gave a small chuckle. "I didn't really expect him to, in all honesty." And at the mention of "occult", she gave a brief look of surprise before quickly switching it out. "You must be the one he had a date with awhile back~"

"I'm sorry..." Ada responded. "I guess I should've asked a little bit more about his friends..." She did feel some sort of regret for not inquiring about it further.

"Ah... yes, that was me!" she blinked, face flushed with a virginal blush as she placed her hands on her lap. "I do hope he hasn't said anything unwelcome about me?"

"No need to apologize~ It's just how he is."

Bingo! She was finally getting somewhere. "Not at all. In fact, he speaks highly of you." Lies. All lies. But Lottie wasn't about to go and blurt out that Vincent was just pulling his mind tricks with her. She'd rather save the brainbreaking for Gilbert instead of course.

And then something hit her. "How rude of me. I haven't even introduced myself, have I? I'm Lottie~"

"Yes... Mister Vincent does come off as the quiet, stoic sort, doesn't he?" Ada had to admit there were a few times that she was often left wondering just what that man was thinking. She was aware that some of those might not have been good things, per se, but she really did want to think he was trying to do some good with his thoughts.

"Ah... it's a pleasure to meet you, miss Lottie. I'm Ada." The weird feeling of leaving was flaring up again, though... why?

LALALA WHAT IS LATE. neverclosetohim November 7 2010, 06:47:44 UTC
"Very much so. Some days I have to wonder what it is he's really thinking or planning." Of course if she wasn't playing nice, there would have been a hint of distaste with that last statement.

Not even moments after Ada uttered her name, Lottie was already leaning in a bit closer to the younger girl, as if examining her. "It's really no surprise why Vincent chose you." If there was going to be any elaboration on that statement, Lottie wasn't giving it. Instead she was moving to stand and smooth out her dress from any wrinkles it may have gotten while sitting.

"Say, Miss Ada, would you mind doing a favor for a friend of Vincent's~?"

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LATE IN THIS WORLD. moe_occultist November 7 2010, 07:17:22 UTC
Ada couldn't help but nod in agreement with Lottie's statement. He was a mystery wrapped in an enigma, really. "Ah... please, miss Lottie. I'm just a girl, you elevate me too much..." Really, she wasn't quite used to this sort of attention from another girl.

"What... what sort of favor is it?" Oh, she would probably regret asking that.
