Better now to get the people to trust him then never, he guessed.
"Gaia..." He mused, hands slipping behind his back as he regarded Vietnam, unconsciously leading them in the direction of the Hotel he had claimed for ShinRa. "It has many climates, as one can expect of a world. The Northern continent seems to always be cold and snow covered, while the Eastern and Western continents seem to vary from hot summers and mild winters in the middle to cooler weather in most areas. Midgar, which was the city I spent most of my in, often had cooler winters with only a bit of snow and hot summers. The location seemed just right for it, surrounded by a wasteland."
He refers to that city in past tense, strangely enough, it gets followed up by another. "Helin was much more calm in it's weather types. I have been there for about two years now, before ending up in this place."

"Hot summers and mild winters sound similar to mine," She commented, "This Midgar sounds interesting, being able to have a hot summer, yet some snow in the winter! It would be interesting to see these places you speak of. Did you travel between those two a lot?"

One of the ShinRa President's hands slipped into the pocket of his pants, the other flicking hair back out of his face. "I took my Turks to Helin soon afterward to regroup and start again, since the ShinRa company had been based out of Midgar before that."
But this was getting him nowhere in finding out much about the woman herself. Rufus was a creature of information, always thirsty for knowledge. "But what about yourself? I'd like to take a minute or so to learn more about you, Miss Vietnam?" Of course, as always, his smile was charming as ever, and it was usually in those times in his youth, that most could see how he had become the prince...no King of his company and his world.

"It must be painful, but at least you were able to regroup, you look to be doing well." She turned to looked at him; whatever is ailing him aside, he looked confident, regal, even. "May I ask, what is it that your ShinRa company specialises in?"
Now, Vietnam was not often asked to talk about herself. In fact, it's usually her asking questions about others, wishing to learn, to further herself. So she blinked before she could respond. Doesn't help that with such a charming smile, who can refuse? "Well, where would you like to start?"
Reply
"Well, you could start from the beginning. Where were you born and raised?" He asked, tone holding friendly interest to it. As much as he was used to doing the old way of things, having the information brought to him and repeated on order that he really had to do no more than chill out and relaxing and let it sink in and come up with the plans from there.
Almost amusingly enough, things had been much simpler when he was one of those types, the guys who were up to no good and made trouble for everyone's homes and neighborhood. 'Rule by fear' had been so much easier.

Vietnam didn't know which beginning to start. It wasn't like she was human, and Rufus didn't know that, which would make birthplace a little confusing. "How to start..." Her fingers were fiddling a little more, trying to think of a nice direct way of saying this without him calling her insane.
"I was born...hmm, I just came to being, a thousand years ago. Let's see, imagine back home, your country had an embodiment which looked like a human. I am such an embodiment, my full nation name is the Socialist Republic of Vietnam."
And now she waits.

Their walk had led them in the direction of the building he had claimed to ShinRa's use - a long walk, something that would of been much easier and comfortably done with a whistle to a cab, but unfortunately this city seemed to be lacking in such. As expected, Rufus raised a eyebrow at the mention of the woman at her fidgeting, then the mention of being a thousand years old...
Well, that was something he was not expecting.
"...Do go on." It's encouraging enough, if not a bit skeptical. But that was to be expected in a place like this.

It's been quite a walk, and she was unsure whether Rufus was needing a rest. There had been no sign of exhaustion, but it didn't stop her trying to locate every city bench just in case. Also it made it easier for her to look busy as she tried to explain herself.
Thankfully, his reaction was a lot better than she had dealt with, even back home, which made it easier to continue. "So, as a nation, I live, feel, endure whatever is thrown at my country and my people. We go through history as they do, sometimes we shape history, such as being adopted by other nations. In my case, I was taken in by two nations, China, later France, before becoming independent. As an independent nation, I'm only 65 years old."
She laughed awkwardly, "Must sound very strange, no?"

...But a country? Really now.

Which was something that had been plaguing her since arriving here; did Ruby City have a form too?
"Either way, it is how we are, and we can experience some things a human life can as well, that is, when we have the time."
