Catching fish game, dipping the rice paper in the water to try and scoop the fish out. You must have steady hands. If you succeed, get a prize! Or perhaps you'd prefer to shoot at the targes with elastic bands? There's a clever technique to this. Or maybe, you'd like to play a game of luck? How about some gambling, is the dice showing an odd number or an even nunmber?

There is a small child, looking freshly scrubbed and wearing a yukata. He is watching the game stalls with the disgruntled expression of someone who would rather be finishing his mystery novel than be made to come outside and have fun.

She watched from the shadows, such place to hold festivities of any sort. Still, it made Celty feel a little more relaxed. Cities shouldn't be so silent.

The Black Rider didn't know if she was expected to come dressed up, but she wasn't very familiar with Vietnamese nor Chinese customs enough to conjure up something from shadows to take place of her bodysuit. Then again, it would also be a little difficult to hide the fact that she lacked a head, had she taken that route. The usual would have to do for now.

She drifted towards the game booths, noticing some that looked like what she'd seen in Japan. It wasn't nearly as crowded, but that such effort had been put into all of this pleased her. Perhaps she'd try her hand at catching a fish?

At the very least she wasn't alone in the area. Celty glanced towards the boy, taking a moment before she recognized who it was. He really is very small...

Conan felt the weight of being watched and glanced up. He blinked as he recognized Celty -- the helment, even now? -- but waved in greeting, putting on a happy smile. "Celty-san!"

He didn't wait to be greeted in return to approach her. "Going to try some of the games?"

Well that was a much better expression than the one the boy had previously been wearing. Celty waved back, glancing thoughtfully at the game booths again as she slipped out her phone with a flick of her wrist.

Fingers danced rapidly over the keypad before she turned it to show Conan.

[[I was thinking about it. I've...never actually tried it for myself before.]]

"Never? You should definitely try it then." Conan held his yukata sleeve back with one hand as he made a flicking motion with his hand. "It's tricky though. You're not trying to scoop, you're trying to skim."

She watched as the boy demonstrated, nodding. The concept seemed simple enough, anyway. Besides, those paper nets didn't look very sturdy at all, but then that was the challenge, wasn't it?

[[Can I watch you try?]]

Celty saw no reason why Conan shouldn't play too, since he was here.

"A demonstation?" Ran didn't seem to be waiting on him. Conan nodded. "All right, but I warn you, I haven't done this since I was a kid," he said, tucking his yukata sleeves properly out of his way. This accomplished, he took up the metal cup and net, filling the cup half full with water and letting it float on top of the water as he sized up his first target.

Celty gave another nod, although she paused at his words. ...but isn't he still...? She tilted her head as she looked at him curiously, but by then Conan had taken his place near the pool of fish. She stepped closer to watch, and despite nothing revealed beyond that dark visor, she seemed to intent on seeing how this fish catching was done.

Celty might not have said anything, but her posture spoke volumes. Assured of an attentive audience, Conan went to work.

"The nets really thin and once it gets damp, tears really easily. So you've got to be careful --" Conan fell silent, sliding the net underneath an orange fish that had incautiously strayed close to the surface. As the fish moved, Conan moved the net with it, lightly scooping it into the cup. "There!"

Well, his delight was childish enough.

It was kind of exciting to watch. Would he catch it, or would it get away?

If she could breathe, Celty would have been holding her breath then. And then- success! She clapped her hands. Conan made it look so simple.

Conan grinned, holding the net out to Celty. "You try!" He scooted aside to make room for her before the tank. "Remember, go gently -- that net can't have much left in it."

Ah, already? She looked at the net, taking it in hand, and then leaned closer towards the tank. One had to wonder how she could see anything through that visor, but she eventually began to track the movement of one of the fish.

Celty nodded at Conan's coaching, adjusting her hold on the net. Gently... She moved the net closer to the water as she prepared herself, and then she slipped it into the water after the fish. -Ah! She would have frowned as she brought up the net, now sporting a gaping hole in its paper center.

What was the helmet made of that Celty was able to see, even with the visor down? It didn't seem to impair her vision any -- did it enhance it? Conan watched Celty track and close in on her fish.

He grimaced as she held up the net. "Told you! They're really fragile -- they make them that way on purpose, so you have to try again. Luckily, no one's going to charge us if we take a new net." Conan held one out for Celty to take.

The helmet hung as shoulders drooped in a silent sigh. Strike one. Shinra would probably have laughed.] Glancing (?) back at Conan, she set the broken net aside to take up the new one.

Okay... This time for sure... Even though the words were only to herself, her determination showed in her poise as she looked back at the fish. Once she had decided which fish to go after, she lowered the net closer towards the water again. Skim, not scoop. Adjusting the angle of the net, she edged it closer towards the water and the fish she had targeted, watching, waiting-

The net's edge dipped into the water, sliding millimeters beneath its surface and beneath the fish. Celty followed through with the movement and deposited the fish into the cup. Her hands balled in what might have been glee as she looked towards Conan for his approval.

Conan nodded in approval as Celty made her second attempt. She had clearly learned from her mistakes and was determined to get it right. In fact, he wouldn't be surprised if -- she did!

Conan answered Celty's look by clapping. "Nicely done. Most people don't pick it up so quickly."
