It really was too quiet in here. Not that Austria wanted noise and banging, but he normally would have had some Strauss playing while he cooked dinner at home, or perhaps Mozart or Mahler. But as he stood in his incomplete but functional kitchen, preparing the cream sauce for his schnitzel, the entire area seemed...cold. Empty. There was fluidity to his movements without the rhythm to provide his meter, and instead of seeming graceful, it nearly seemed out of place.
Checking his watch, Austria knew that Italy would be arriving, though likely he would be a bit late. He'd already set up the small area in a room that had not had flooring put down, so in case the puppy had an accident, it was easily cleaned. He'd even set down a bowl of water for Lupo, mostly in passing, but he was not the sort to harm animals.
For the holiday occasion, there were Linzer cookies instead of a torte or strudel, simply because it was easier to find the ingredients. In any case, he was certain his guest would be pleased.
