[Somewhere along the way, Gilbert got to wondering where his husband had wandered off to. And even though he knows it's pretty sure that Naoki will hear him, he lingers in the backdoor, watching him. He can't help it. He likes watching Naoki, very much, but that's probably not surprising.

There's a faint smile, maybe just a little wistful, pulls at his lips. He knows Naoki misses home. Of course he does.

Of course, the smile on his face brightens just a bit as the glowing half-demon is suddenly covered in flickering company. He can't help but laughing, stepping outside, though he lingers at the edge of the porch.] Looks like you found some long lost family.

[Naoki turns as soon as Gilbert speaks. He knew he was there, of course he did. He blinks, some of said company rising up in response to the motion, but more remaining, crawling over his glowing skin curiously.]

Yup. These two here, definitely my second cousins. And this is my aunt... [His tone is joking as he looks down at the fireflies.]

[Gilbert laughs again, and now he steps down from the porch to walk over to Naoki and his little glowing friends.] Oh well, then. I'd better introduce myself. I wouldn't want to pass up the opportunity to meet the in-laws.

[He's teasing of course, the smile on his face evidence of that. His eyes are caught though, by a few of the little lightning bugs still in flight. Oh. He remembers this. He lifts his hands then, gently cupping them around one of the bugs flying close.]

Oh, no, you definitely wouldn't. [Naoki's voice is light as he watches Gilbert's approach.] They've been all excited to meet you, after all... [He observes the fireflies lingering on his skin with amusement, then turns yellow eyes to watch Gilbert.

He blinks. There's something-- He can't help but watch Gilbert, not certain why he can't tear his eyes away.]

Non, but you're glowing and on ze ground like female fireflies do. 'Glow worms', zey're called. Pretty to look at, but I wouldn't touch zem. Not a bug fan.

Would this kind of thing bother you? [Naoki tilts his head at the fireflies crawling on one of his arms, expression curious.]

I remember visiting my brother's cities, they really do have amazing lights. Although deeper into the country, I suppose it could be similar to this.

[She couldn't help but laugh though] In another life, perhaps!

Probably. Japan's got as many big cities as little towns. [He grins, nostalgic.] Where my aunt and uncle live is less bright, certainly.

[He wiggles his fingers and a few fireflies lift off and flit away.] I better have been the brightest firefly in that other life. [Jokingly.]

Hey, Gamzee. [Greetings first, since he hasn't talked to him in a bit.] They are pretty amazing. D'you have them where you're from?

[Vash is out walking, enjoying the night air, when he notices the odd behavior of the fireflies. They seem to be heading somewhere... He follows them quietly-- and then laughs softly at the sight before him.]

It looks like you've made some new friends, Naoki.

[Naoki looks up from where his collection of fireflies is growing. He quirks up one eyebrow at him, good-natured.]

Why don't you come a bit closer? I'm sure some of my new friends would love to keep you company as well.

[Vash chuckles and complies, holding his hands out to capture a few of the fireflies in them, smiling.]

I must say, Naoki, I approve of the company you keep. They seem like "bright" folk.

[Oh, bad puns. Sorry, Naoki, but the country is trying to be funny.]

[Naoki blinks at the pun. Then he laughs, causing some of the fireflies to lift off from him in response.]

Aren't they just? They make me feel so illuminated.
