PAX

I went to my first Penny Arcade Expo this weekend, and, holy heck was it awesome.  13rosered and I got there around 7ish and looked around.  Amanda played Devil May Cry 4 and I'm trying to talk Keith into it so I can learn how to play it.  She also played some Rock Band and that was sweet.

We went to the concert and the One Ups were totally rad.  Freezepop was cool, especially when they played the National Anthem and Final Countdown.

Then JoCo.  Wow.  Amanda's a convert.  And he rickrolled us.  And Felicia Day joined him for Still Alive.  And did two encores, finishing with Sweet Caroline (bom! bom! bom!)

Saturday we got there in the afternoon and headed to the exhibition hall.  We rounded a corner and I GASPED.  Wil Wheaton.  Mere feet away from me.  I geeked out a little.

The exhibition was cool.  Amanda and I played something and she kicked my ass.  I bought some pins and a Pink Godzilla plush.

I took off soon after to celebrate Kari's birthday.

Today rolled in and I busted a move down to the Pike Street Annex for the Wil Wheaton panel.  I saw brothersterno , but didn't get a chance to say hi because he turned into a thing on another floor.  Hi, Eric!

Got to the panel about 50 minutes early, so I got a chair.  By the time Wil Wheaton started the seats were full and the standing crowd in the back was at least four deep.

Wil Wheaton is so rad.  He too rickrolled us.  Then read some of his writings, followed by a Q&A.

I booked back to the Convention Center and got in line to meet WW, and it's a good thing I didn't stop to pee, because they cut off the line a small number of people back.  sexinthecloset and denigod  found me in line and kept me company, becomming my entourage as I neared the table.  I started geeking out pretty hard.

Soon it was my turn.  Wil had gotten a toy gun from someone that he fake shot me with and said hello and asked me how I was.  I said "I'm very well, thanks, how are you?"  I then bought his chapbook for $20.  Each summer he puts together some writings to read at cons and makes limited copies of them.  I got number 140 of 200.  He signed it and I laid down a black and white 8x10 of the Enterprise bridge crew that I'd taken off my wall this morning.  He said, "yeah!" and signed that as well.  Wil Wheaton is a lefty.  I asked for a picture and he obliged.  We turned to Kari with her camera and Jason with my phone and got a couple shots.  Wil noticed Kari's "Betch" shirt and excitedly told us how he's friends way back with Liam Sullivan (the guy who plays Kelly) and how he used to be Kelly backstage at a comedy club they performed at.  Or something.  Very cool.

THEN Jason said that he couldn't see my tattoo in the pics and when I turned back to Wil he maybe had a questioning look on his face and I said, "they wanted me to tell you that [my tat] stands for "Wil Wheaton."

"Does it?" he asked.

"My last name's Walker."

"Oh."

"But today it totally stands for 'Wil Wheaton.'"

"Cool!"

So, yeah, Wil Wheaton is rad.  He's so nice and says "it was nice to meet you" to his fans.  I'm totally gonna buy his books.

I got lunch and then headed home and then home again to Renton.  Got a few new shirts, which are totally cute, and I'm going to Ikea tomorrow.

Omg, I need some sleep.
