 So I'm just finishing up Waiter Rant and after recent discussions of objectivism and altruism, this chunk struck me:

"I content myself with something I read on a bishop's coat of arms long ago - ' Love is ingenious.'  No matter how convoluted the motivations, love's impulses often triumph over our more selfish instincts.  Maybe that's the very thing that makes life fit for living."
