Went and saw Syriana today.  And it's great.  What's cool is there're half a dozen story lines going on and they don't all necessarily intersect.  There's no real resolution, but there doesn't have to be in this movie.  This is a teaching movie; it's showing us the things that we know lurk in the world, but never get to see.

It's also perpetuated the crush I've had on George Clooney since the early 80s and reignited the crush on Alexander Siddig.  That's right.  Dr. Julian Bashir on DS9.

That being said, I've been totally embracing my geekiness this week.  After Ingrid alerted the world to the existence of SeaQuest dvds, I told a coworker and we talked briefly about the show and the unfortunate demise of Jonathan Brandis.  Then, mere hours later, my love of the Olympics exploded.  I'd gotten the newest Rolling Stone (featuring Neil Young on the cover) and opened it and may have actually squealed, tucked away amongst engineering plans.  I then dashed to my coworker covering the desk while I was on my lunch break:

"Ohmygod.  So, more than my love for SeaQuest, more than my love for Star Trek, I love the Olympics.  Like, LOVE the Olympics.  So how excited am I at this..."

And then I showed Kari the HUGE Rolling Stone sized picture of Apolo Ohno.

That's right.  The Torino Olympics are 19 days away.  Can I wait?  No.

star trek, sports!, movies, geek, freaked out
