[and yes, it's intentionally out of order]
1. I am thankful for my wife. Every day. Even when she makes me want to scream, I'm thankful to have her to want to scream about. I'd never want to be without her, and I would indeed marry her every day of my life if only we had the time between work and other obligations.
2. A job that I don't hate, that more often than not I actually enjoy, that even at its worst makes me laugh til I almost pee.
3. Angel, and the fact that she doesn't have to be euthanized after all, thanks to Dr. Mullins. She's a very bad dog most of the time, but I do love her so.
4. Delilah, who is a bad and terrible cat but still makes me fairly warm and fuzzy when she sleeps smooshed up against me at night.
5. All the little rats and bunnies and the one remaining mouse, with their twitchy whiskers and cuteness.
6. My handsome new nephew, Brandyn. This is his first Thanksgiving, and I think that he could not be any more loved.
7. Ami, my best friend, who has been there through thick and through thin and deserves a huge orange cake for that.
8. All the things that I have that not everyone can take for granted: my health, a family, a roof over my head, a regular paycheck, my sanity.
9. Joker. Everyone should have a dog so gentle and goofy.
10. I'm thankful for falling asleep at night with just my feet snuggled up the my wife's feet, cause for some reason she does that, and it's started to feel like home. I know I'd miss that beyond reason if it were gone.
11. Oliver Alligator, who I don't get to see or talk to nearly as much as I'd like, but he's such a ray of sunshine I'm thankful just to have him around while I'm still trying to get my head screwed on straight.
12. I'm thankful for falling asleep some nights with my head on the one I love's chest.
13. Creepy, because she's my cat.
14. Getting to know Connie, finally. A little late, but at least I can see now that she's not what she was made out to be.
15. Diamond, who truly wants to be a good dog, she just hasn't quite figured it out yet.
16. Even though we have more differences than not, I'm thankful that my mother does love me, in her own way, and that she's more or less okay in life.
17. I'm thankful for everything I've survived intact.
18. My nephew Gabriel, who's an odd one, but completely endearing.
19. I'm thankful and proud that Ash is doing so well in college.
20. I'm thankful for my brother, and his safety when he gets shipped out, and getting to have him home for Christmas.
21. I'm thankful for the strength and intelligence to walk away from some of the people that I've walked away from this year.
22. Malachi, the orange fellow, who is a good and solid kitty. Every home should have one.
23. I'm thankful that winter eventually goes away.
24. All of the friends who keep life smooth, lucky, and laughing.
25. My dad. I never imagined I'd actually have a father in the sense that I should, and I truly don't take for granted what a blessing that is.
26. I'm thankful for the awesome things I've gotten to learn at work.
27. That we still have Kathy and that she's doing so well after her struggle with breast cancer.
28. My niece Brianna, who absolutely sunshines everything up.
29. I'm thankful for my stepmother, who is not wicked in the slighest.
30. I'm thankful for Bitty, the kitten that just never went anywhere, who is the cat version of Joker and just doesn't get discouraged by being shooed away constantly.
31. The two transient kittens that we're fostering, Bella and Sally, who won't live here forever but brighten our lives while they do.
32. That Gram was finally able to let go and, hopefully, go be with the love of her life.
33. I'm thankful for my sister, and getting to know her for who she really is. She's pretty kickass.
34. I'm thankful that Barack Obama was elected president.
35. I'm thankful that we only have a few more months of George Bush.
36. Maximus Monster, aka Max, aka Manytoes, the kitten whose excess of toes and spunky personality always put a smile on my face.
37. Heather, and her happiness, and her baby on the way.
38. I'm thankful for the grin on my wife's face when she's caught watching me.
39. My nephew Robbie, with his chunky little cheeks and sweet, sweet smile.
40. I'm thankful for new friends.
41. My pretty new fish.
42. Fuzz, the very chill bearded dragon.
43. The seamonkeys that had a good long life.
44. In-laws that I don't always agree with, but that I know love and look out for both of us.
45. My bee-you-tee-ful Tybalt, who is all that a kitten should be and more.
46. Health insurance!
47. I'm thankful that I look forward to going to work in the morning and I look forward to coming home at night. It gets no better than that.
48. I'm thankful for growth.
49. I'm thankful for willpower.
50. I'm thankful that I have any one of these things to be thankful for.
