When Jeff and I were kids, we were the best of friends. we played hide-and-go-seek, tickled each other for hours until we peed our pants, and we used those wild imaginations that every child has. When jeff started going to school, he made some new friends, and of course i got jealous. it was only natural. 2 years later i went to kindergarten, jeff being in the second grade. even in kindergarten i was quite the antisocial. i clung to my brother for safety, and he would protect me from anyone making fun of me. this resulted in the disappearance of all of the friends jeff had made. none of them wanted to hang out with someone who got along best with his little sister. at recess, we played just like old times. he would be the pirate in search of the gold and me being a princess with the key to the hidden treasure. at lunch we were inseparable too; jeff and i always traded with each other's food and we would jabber away like a couple of monkeys.
when i was in 4th grade, jeff was diagnosed with cancer. i'll never forget that year, that day. things became so different so drastically. things were never the same since then.
