and now for something completely different

because i've never bitched about academics in here. oh no. especially not during finals. this is different however, because i really don't have much for finals, but a lot of little annoying things to do by Tuesday. for example:

1. write a review of the Amherst Faculty Dance concert that i saw this weekend. it wasn't bad, except for the strange piece set to Janis Joplin music (that i was initially excited about) that became some sort of homoerotic battle of wills dance piece between the young male dancer and the older fat gentleman who did not appear to be a dancer at all.

2. write about what it was like to "dance" in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in January, because apparently we were supposed to go see two dance performances, and i did not. i have decided that writing about my travails as one of the Roman prostitutes will suffice, especially since the other girls were all excellent and/or trained dancers. maybe i'll include the story of the day i split my pants open at rehearsal.

3. study for my quiz on the book "Jazz Dance Class" by Gus Giordano. this book consists of 209 pages of illustrated jazz moves that we are supposed to be able to identify. fucking hell.

4. choreograph 30 seconds of jazz and 30 seconds of hip-hop, to be performed for the class tomorrow. there is definite safety in numbers, so i'm doing this with a few other people. but it will still be amusingly bad.

5. not as amusingly bad as our class exhibition on Tuesday, which includes the forty of us class members dancing to "Toxic" and some other jazz instrumental. as this conflicts with the traditional Champagne and Strawberries event for seniors celebrating the last day of classes, i will either be drunk before or after, but definitely at some point.

aside from that i have to revise some papers and take an exam on Modern Drama, but could we please just note that the class that requires i do the most to graduate is Jazz I. come on babe, why don't we paint the town.
