so. le weekend.
friday night i proved yet again what a stellar member of society i'm going to make by getting out of work to go to the movies with Tim, and two of his other friends, Kristin and Jose. we saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and it was amazing. it really rocked me to the core.
then, home to stay at Tim and Jared's because we had to be up so early for the bus. i haven't seen the light of 6am in a long time, unless i just haven't been to sleep at all. i met up with Tim and Andrew and we walked over. the bus ride there was fun, bizarrely punctuated by seeing Evan and JoAnn at the rest stop coincidentally. we arrived in the city, and i loved it all over again. i was so tired when i left this summer, with so many conflicting emotions, but it was good to be back.
a group of us went to the big H & M ("What does H&M stand for?" "Ho Mo.") on 5th Ave and Tim and Andrew convinced me to get a fabulous red coat, which i can't afford but i love.
i got a good old traditional New York lunch off of a hot dog cart, and the boys at in a little deli, and then we were off to the show. Avenue Q was hilarious and smart and the actors were amazing, though I found myself watching the puppets and really feeling like they were actual performers, which is a mark of the actors' talent. some song titles which hit particularly close to home:
What Do I Do With a B.A. in English?
I Want to Go Back to College
not to mention the hilarious "If You Were Gay", "My Girlfriend, Who Lives in Canada", and "The Internet Is For Porn". it's sort of a parody of Sesame Street, for all the kids who used to watch Sesame street in the 80's who now are trying to figure out their lives. on crack. it was great.
afterwards we tried to find a place for about ten of us for dinner, but we ended up splitting up and Tim and Andrew and I found a little place on 9th Ave that ended up being excellent. we also saw the actress Ileana Douglas on the street. she's been in several films, but she's not a huge name. but we recognized her, and it was fun!
bus ride home, watching What A Girl Wants (oh the suspense!) and then to Andrew's with Tim to watch a movie, then left them to go pass out in Tim and Jared's room. up with the afternoon light, then to rehearsal and home and here we are. skipping class. but it's to do work.
i need to get it together.
everyone go see Eternal Sunshine and Avenue Q.
