you'll find one day your love has stopped

So that leak? It wasn't just a leak. It rained in my room that night. I spent the wee hours of the morning throwing everything I could out of my room (ie everything but my bed frame and my desk). I am now situated in the living room and repairs won't be made until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Some drainage pipe on the roof backed up and flooded the pent house apartments - giving them around a foot of water to wade in and rain in my room.

The good news in all of this is that I had just finished getting a lot of work done that day, which put me ahead of all of my work in all of my classes. Thus, the day that was supposed to be spent cleaning and getting coffee with Michelle was instead spent making the living room homey for me but still living room-esque for the rest of the house. I think I did a good job.

It's very annoying. I just finished furnishing my room and actually had furniture. Now I am displaced again. However, I think the three of us have a good knowledge of our leasing rights at this point. If this is not fixed soon, I can call 311 and file a report. I can also withhold rent because I do not feel that my management company is providing me with a sanitary living environment. While I do not think I will pursue this action just yet, I do think I will try to get compensation in the form of rent reduction.

On a better note, I finally got to hang out with Lynn. We went shopping in NJ (they have NO sales tax!!!) and I found so many good deals. I got one skirt at Club Monaco that had been $89 and was marked down to $19. Other than that, I got a new pair of jeans (they need to be hemmed), two comfy shirts to help me with winter, and a tank top made of velvet and lace.
