Farewell, my x-ray love

First day back at the lab group today. Not the one with all the molten metals, x-rays, and sample squishing machines, but the one I've been dabbling in during the semester for almost two years now. Anyway, they're finally letting me play with the big machines this year, which is pretty awesome. Unfortunately the machines are down for at least the next week and a half, so we were trying to figure out what we'll talk about in groups meetings until then.

I shit you not, this was the professor's suggestion and the subsequent response:
Prof:"We could just read some recent journal articles. You know, all of us read them, catch up on modern developments, then talk about them."
Neel:"Ooh, and maybe about how they made us all feel?"
Greg::"And their commentary on the human condition? And how methane is really a metaphor for the male sexual subconscious?"
Me:"I'll bring the tea and cookies."
Prof:"You know what, lets just fix the damn machines."

Also, first day of Yiddish class. It is absolutely amazing taking a fusion language like Yiddish. Already we've learned that if you can't remember the correct word, just stick in the equivalent word in German, Russian, Hebrew, or maybe English/Latin, and you will be just as correct. This is like THE language for lazy linguists.
