Wednesday! In other words, the longest day EVER!
(As always, click on the photos to be directed to Flickr where I've described some of them a little more)
Mom and I woke up extra early, did our packing, trying and finally succeeding in getting all that we had bought the day before in our luggage and then went downstairs for breakfast at Delphine Eatery & Bar.
I informed the reception desk that we would be checking out soon. We went to the 12th floor on the roof to take pictures. It was early morning (around 6.30-7 am), the sun was still a little timid and there was no one else there on the roof at that moment. The view was beautiful. Heart skipped a beat count: 3.
I haven't been able to find this anywhere on the interwebz, but a taxi driver told me that apparently on every Friday night there is a huge party organized there for guests and that one seat costs $2000 (without any drinks/food of course). Oh
We went to our room, where I said goodbye to Hollywood and to my beloved window seat and we came downstairs to sit in the Living Room to wait for our Bus Tour. I of course took more pictures of the Living Room.
Finally the bus shuttle picked us up and took us to Starline Tours' office just behind the Grauman's Chinese Theatre where I bought our tickets for the
Grand City Tour of LA. We would be accompanied by some 50 other people. This was our itinerary:
We started with the Hollywood Bowl, where we spent some 15 minutes. Then we drove to the Hollywood Walk of Fame where we saw the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Sweet! Shop (where I got toothache just by looking at all the sweets around eeep), Kodak/Dolby Theatre. We drove through Beverly Hills to Rodeo Drive where we had a small walk for some 20 minutes. Drove through the Miracle Mile District, saw the La Brea Tar Pits and Melrose Avenue from the bus itself. Our guide gave us one hour to have lunch at the Farmers Market/The Grove. Mom and I had already done some shopping the day before, but we kinda went crazy again there! So much so that we barely had time to have lunch. We had time just to buy some food before we had to rush back to our bus. We then drove through Sunset Strip to Downtown La where we stopped at Olvera Street, which is the oldest part of LA. We did some more shopping there before we drove back to the Starline Tours' office, seeing Chinatown, Staples Center, etc..

The tour was really fun and informative. Saw and learnt so much. Memories for a lifetime..
The bus shuttle took us back to our hotel at around 4 pm, we took our luggage and a taxi to........Santa Monica! It was rush hour time so it took us about one and a half hours. We arrived at the Shore Hotel and got our room. We had dinner in our room itself, eating the stuff that we had bought for lunch at the Farmers Market. Ali from Omaze called us in our room to say that she would meet us in the hotel lobby at 11.30 am the next day. Mom practically passed out after having a shower. I stayed up to watch Arrow and American Idol, not finding sleep till early morning, my mind buzzing with all that had happened before and all that would happen the next day.
