This is an appalling world, covered in appalling heat. Summer, a season to remember, when joy is at hand, right around the corner, no! closer, right outside your door. One likes to bike, to see the green grass and green trees and love is in the air. It is far from bleak. It could not get any less bleak. Nights are short and days are long. This is the season to be alive.
Lest you be too cheered there's a damper in all this. Some folks are beautiful. Some folks are homely. But some, the worst of all, have a lonely soul. They haven't got a person to meet them and tell them their problems and get the latest gossip. Gossip is precious to them for its rarity. The goings-on of others are like water in a desert for them. And by them I mean me.
So enjoy your season and rejoice and have no care
