Poor Hoover
President Herbert Clark Hoover gets a bad wrap. Like, Hoovervilles. I mean, the depression wasn't his fault. We forget that the government did not used to have as much of a control over every single gosh darned aspect of our lives. So when the stock market crashed, he got the blam put on him. But man, it isn't like he didn't try. Europe did it. They were way in the crapper. After the crash, he tried to do banking reform and he tried to get additional help for farmers and he tried to loan money to states so they could feed their poor. But he also said that the government couldn't do it all. It was up to good neighbors to help out. Well, he got canned and we brought in this FDR fellow who stayed in office for freakin' ever and he made the government super duper controlling of everything. and yet we hate the commies. aren't we commies?
