Holy Shit it is a gorgeous day

So sunny, so warm, so smelly good (although that is mostly the dead Christmas tree chillin out on the deck with me). I thought about putting on some music to accompany my relaxing time outside while Ayla naps, but decided against it. Today I want to hear the sounds of winter breaking. The sweet songs of birds, human sounds of outside activities, a small private plane flying overhead, even the cars driving past my house. A dog barking in the distance, the occasional breeze filtering through the pines and firs, wind chimes (remind me to get some), a lawnmower far to the west, the insistent jabbering of crows...the world alive and living. Today I want to listen, not merely hear.
My socks are off, my longsleeve shirt is pushed up my arms, my paperwhite face is turned towards our great star like a depraved flower, which of course I am. Fridays have become my housecleaning days. So that Saturday and Sunday are left for us to have fun, do things like hike and play and park and tank and scrapbook. Oh, but this is far more important than a swept floor or a spotless toilet. This is me being, and being filled up with light. The laundry can certainly wait.
Thank you, glorious star, for nourishing us and making this earth possible. Thank you for always being there, behind the trees, behind the clouds, beyond the horizon.
