Hm! Whereabouts are you seeing these obnoxious intrusions?
This /. story may be pertinent - the essence is some "advertisers" are using Flash (in particular) to launch the ads, circumventing the usual pop-up detection mechanism. Perhaps simpler, though, in such cases, might be disabling javascript for such errant sites - that might also work quite well, as would, of course, disabling Flash in such cases.
(I normally run OmniWeb 5.1, but Firefox 1.0.2's easily downloaded for testing purposes, if necessary)
You and me both - I've seen a few over the last few weeks. It's popular enough that it represents a large enough target to make coding exploits worthwhile.
The difference being, still, the Firefox developers are actively working to find ways to stop this uncouth behaviour from afflicting the end-user. IE.. not so much.
BTW: There's going to be a mess'o'patches for some of the Win-Tans tomorrow. Patch early, patch often..
