When I go to the bar and it's a tit nipply, I'll wear my leather jacket. I'll hide my keys in the jacket; usually where my asthma inhaler goes because that usually goes inside with me. Last night I do this exact thing. Now the pocket in the jacket is ripped and usually what's aimed for the pocket ends up in the jacket liner but that's fine since it's secure.
Come 2'ish AM I go to retrieve my jacket from the coat check and I put my hand in the pocket looking for my keys.
No keys. The worst feeling in the world of being completely stranded. No way to drive the car and no way to get into the house. I am practically tearing the jacket apart wondering if I put them in a different pocket. But no, I do remember where I put the keys and they're not there. *And* I discover a hole in the liner.
I dash back to the coat check hoping they ended up on the floor, but no, no keys there. I am beside myself - what am I going to do?
Then I notice the jacket has some weight to it as though... could it be? Yes! The keys somehow shifted from side of the jacket to the other and they were, in fact, still safe in the liner.
Crisis averted.
I may have to change my security system...
