Two high school class reunions: same day, same time, same Bat channel.
Of course I only graduated from one high school, but I was invited to two.
For kindergarten and first grade, I went to one school - then we moved away and I stayed in that school system until halfway through my sophomore year, when I went back with all the kids I started with - and 300 more. SHS never felt like home, even though it is listed on my diploma. I always felt like an outsider and never fully accepted back into the fold. My other school had my heart. It was small (50ish kids in my grade) and my class at SHS had approximately 350. Huge difference.
The schools are only 30 minutes away from each other, and they both decided to hold reunion on the same day at the same time. SHS with the monster class decided to hold it in a dark dive bar. THS held it on the side of a mountain, outside, under a starry sky with no light pollution, a cookout and bonfire. Of course I was outside reconnecting with friends.
The strange part is that the THS reunion with the teeny class had a bigger reunion. More classmates showed. Most of the folks at the SHS reunion were part of the elite snobby faction.
Weeeeeeeelllll...the SHS crew found out I went to the THS reunion. It did not go over well. Heh.
I made the right choice.
