http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Wave_of_the_Holy_Spirit I find this interesting because there was a story I read back in middle school/early high school that concerned a group calling itself the "Third Wave." It was about a teacher who managed, through carefully planned and timed class activities and lectures, to create this group, initially out of his students and spreading to other people who heard about it by word of mouth. The group grew and grew, and it was eventually forgotten that it was all just a class activity, eventually culminating in an assembly of all Third Wave members, where they were to be told of the Ultimate Plans that the leadership of the Third Wave had, obviously involving world domination in some subtle way. At this point, they were reminded (or it was revealed) that the entire thing was just an exercise showing how a large group of people could be manipulated in this way - after all, it was a history class, focusing on World War II.
Funny that a religious movement would take such a name.
