I honestly thought I would have new glasses by now. Three weeks ago, I went for an exam and Katie helped pick out two pairs of frames (one regular, one reading). I was excited. Both of them looked good. It's been so long since my vision was well-corrected. But there were some odd results from my tests, so I was scheduled to be re-tested. It turns out that age and/or diabetes is contributing to a new problem for my eyes. I have to go to a specialist to get the surface of my eyes mapped!?! The results show fluctuations. Corrective lenses at this point aren't going to significantly improve my eyesight. The solution is to get hard contacts which are supposed to smooth out the surface of my lens. I've been wearing glasses for 44 years. I'm pretty apprehensive about the whole thing.
I got a new pair of tennis shoes. They aren't exactly tennis shoes, but that's what I've always called that type of shoe. They're Cross Trekkers and are some sort of hybrid basketball/hiking kind of thing. They're super-light but supportive and very comfortable with a seriously rugged non-skid sole. They were on sale for $16. My old shoes were between 15-20 years old. Addidas. They were good shoes, but the last few years they looked like they'd been through a war.
Katie got a nice dressy-casual long dress. Regularly it's like $90 and she got it for $12. Usually, I'd have to talk her into spending money on herself, but it was such a fantastic deal. It even looked much better on her, too.
On Sunday, the show Undercover Boss will feature the new owner of the Chicago Cubs working various entry-level jobs while disguised to see how things actually work in the organization. Should be interesting.
